Ah, week 3. The week where we can finally draw conclusions without sounding like we are overreacting. That doesn’t stop me though. Welcome to 5 takeaways from Week 3.
The Dolphins have the best offense in the league
When I looked at the Dolphins game, I thought my phone screen glitched out. 70-20? What kind of game was that? The Dolphins rattled the Broncos, even though the Broncos boasted a good defense last year. The Fins dropped 726 yards and 10 touchdowns. They broke multiple records. They broke the most points scored, most touchdowns scored, and most yards gained in Dolphins franchise history. Also, no team has ever scored 5 passing touchdowns and 5 rushing touchdowns in the same game. De’Von Achane broke multiple rookie records such as most touchdowns in a game by a rookie, and most rushing yards in a game by a rookie. Even the Dolphin’s kicker broke the record for most PATs in a game. This game was insane. And the Dolphins did this all without star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Crazy. The Miami Dolphins now rank 1st in total yards per game, and if they keep it up, they will have the best offense in the league, and maybe in NFL history. I do know one thing now, the Miami Dolphins offense will never go out of style.
New Year… Same, old Cowboys
Where do I even start? This team completely embarrassed themselves on Sunday. They lost by multiple scores to the preseason favorites to one of the worst teams in the league. Horrible. But what do we learn from this game? The Cowboys are a horrible team? No. This game was completely on the execution. The Cowboys offense put up yards, but couldn’t execute in the Red Zone. The defense got some good stops, but couldn’t get a single takeaway, and gave up so many rushing yards. Cowboys fans can do whatever they want to deflect this loss on to something else. They can blame the refs. The refs called 13 penalties on the Cowboys, to only 8 on the Cardinals. Some calls were valid, however, most calls were so stupid. Including the no-call pass interference on Marco Wilson. But there were many instances where it looked like the Cowboys didn’t know what they were doing, like when CeeDee Lamb seemingly stopped trying when he thought he had a Defensive Pass Interference call. He didn’t. Now how does this loss affect the Cowboys. Well, losses affect every team, but this game was probably just a matter of the Cowboys being unprepared to play. Zack Martin, Tyler Biadasz, Tyron Smith, and Trevon Diggs all were out with injuries. Now everyone except Trevon will be back most likely by next week, it’s hard to replace Trevon Diggs. Anyway, the Cowboys just need to shake it off, and come back next week, ready to play.
The Bears may be the worst team in the League
The Bears had an offseason where they traded away the Number 1 overall pick to get DJ Moore. They added key pieces in free agency, and began to look like a possible playoff contender. They are now 0-3 and have lost almost all hope in Justin Fields. Their defense is a mess, and Justin Fields is just a running back under center. They are now one of the favorites to get the Number 1 overall pick. But what went wrong? It all goes back to the quarterback. Justin Fields is not the guy. The Bears flipped a coin deciding if Fields should be their quarterback or if they draft Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. The coin, on it’s way to the floor, broke the floor and started to fall endlessly. That’s the mistake the Bears made. We have seen running quarterbacks achieve great things, but those running quarterbacks were also decent passers. Justin Fields is yet to show he can achieve those things. And that leaves a huge blank space on whether or not he can become that guy. And until he does become that guy, the Bears have no hope for the season.
The Packers are playoff contenders
The Packers had a cruel summer, in which they traded away future hall-of-fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, lost Allen Lazard, Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Randall Cobb, and Adrian Amos. However, even after all of that, they have now won 2 of their first 3 games, including a 3-score, 4th quarter comeback over the Saints. Sitting at 2-1, the Packers are now tied for 1st in the division, meaning they have a decent chance of winning the division. They just need to stick to what they’ve been doing, and make sure that they are executing when they need to. But they have done this without running back Aaron Jones, David Bachtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Christian Watson, and Jaire Alexander. That’s convincing. They were missing 5 of their best players, and they still got the win. Just imagine what they can do with their full team.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift???
This is gonna be a extremely short one, but what? Travis Kelce, future hall-of-fame tight end, and Taylor Swift 12-time grammy award winning artist Taylor Swift? Dating? Crazy. However, we have very little information on this, but Taylor Swift showing up to a Chiefs game with Travis’s mom, celebrating when Kelce scored a touchdown and then leaving the stadium with him? That’s pretty convincing. Anyway, these rumors are probably gonna die down soon, or get completely revealed as true, I don’t know.
Everyone can celebrate that football is back, except Cowboys fans (sorry Cowboys fans). So there you have it. Five takeaways from the third week of the NFL season. How will these hold up during the season? I have no clue. But I guess we’ll find out.
