Week 7 of the NFL is over, and I don’t even know what to say. The Bears won again, and The Patriots beat the Bills to give Belichick his 300th career win. Heck, the highest-scoring game of the season might have happened this week. Let’s break it down.

Never Bet on the Miami Dolphins

I honestly thought the Miami Dolphins’ offense would light the Eagles defense on fire. Instead, the offense contributed to just 10 points, and the Dolphins lost by 2 scores. That’s a bad look. While I didn’t know who would win, I was eyeing the Dolphins. But it’s the inconsistency. The Dolphins went from dropping 70 points in week 3 to dropping just 20 in week 4. Then, they dropped 31 the very next week. Then 42. And finally, a whopping 10. It’s just not enough to trust. They either light up opponents’ defenses, or they drop minimal points and lose. The inconsistency is wild, and I don’t trust the Dolphins anymore. Maybe it’s because of Chase Claypool arriving, or they just had an off day. Either way, they CANNOT be trusted, no matter what.

The Ravens are Super Bowl Contenders

If you thought the Lions would get blown out by the Ravens, raise your hand. Nobody thought that would happen! However, what’s crazy is that it did. the Ravens won 38-6. This wasn’t just Lamar Jackson, this wasn’t just Mark Andrews. The Ravens beat the Lions in every single aspect of the game. For those of you who think Lamar can’t throw, here are his stats. 21 for 27, 357 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. He also rushed 9 times for 36 yards and a touchdown. And he spread the ball around nicely. Now what does this mean for the Lions? Not much. Obviously, they have to go watch the film, and figure out what the heck happened, but the Lions are still a good team, and they just had a bad game. The Ravens however, need to play like this all the time. This Ravens team lost to the Steelers, and the Colts. They can’t have the inconsistency that they do right now. But still, good job by the Ravens.

Okay I am DONE standing up for Brock. I gave him a break last week because he lost both Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey. However, he lost again this week, and all because Deebo Samuel was gone. Let’s look at the stats. Against the Cowboys, he threw for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns with a QBR of 82.8. The next week, he lost his two best weapons, and he threw for 125 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception for a QBR of 37.7. Then, the next game, he threw for 272 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions for a QBR of 63.5. That can’t happen. You can’t go from looking like the next coming of Tom Brady, then you lose a weapon or two, and look like Johnny Manziel. It can’t happen. I will go on record to say that Brock Purdy is only performing well because of his head coach and his 4+ good receivers on his team. If the 49ers lose one more game in a row, it’s time to move on from him.

The Bills are NOT Super Bowl Contenders

Okay. So this is crazy. The Bills, lost to the Patriots. Explain that to me. No, you can’t. How did this happen. Now I didn’t exactly watch much of this game, so I don’t know if the refs made some bad calls or not, but I’m going to assume they did because they’re the refs. Something I’ve noticed, is that if the Cowboys win, people say that it’s because the other team is bad. Well, the Cowboys have beat the Giants, Jets, Patriots, and the Chargers. So far, two of those teams have beat one of the Cowboys biggest competitors. Just a quick thought. Anyway, the Bills are not playing good football. They lost to the Jags, and then barely beat the Giants, then lost to the Patriots. At least for now, it’s time to stop addressing the Bills as Super Bowl contenders until the prove that they can win at a consistent basis. So, until that happens, what can we really expect from a mistake-prone Josh Allen and an injury-prone defense?

Everyone can celebrate that football is here, except Bills fans (sorry Bills fans). So there you have it. Four takeaways from the seventh week (already???) of the NFL season. How will these hold up during the season? I have no clue. But I guess we’ll find out. And yes, this conclusion is copied and pasted from my NFL Week 1 Overreactions: Being Way Too Conclusive article.
