Jesuit Soccer Starts Season Off Undefeated as Meintser Champions

-

Jesuit kicked off the soccer season by going 2-0-1 in their first three games and winning the Meintser Tournament in those three games. With this hot start to soccer, the team’s potential for the remainder of the season looks strong, working to make it to the Playoffs and hopefully go on a hot run to become contenders for the Division II State title.

Vs. Trinity Christian Academy

Jesuit kicked off the tournament and their season with a 2-0 victory vs. Trinity Christian Academy (TCA). Jesuit didn’t allow a single shot to TCA while having 13 shots. Cooper McGough ’26 scored both goals for Jesuit, one in the first half and one in the second. His first goal was assisted by Henry King ’27 and Zane Roland ’27, while his second goal was unassisted.

“We showed A lot of progress. We just got better as we played through and if it keeps on going that way I think we will be really great this season.” – Zane roland ’27

Vs. Bryan Adams

Jesuit had a close game with Bryan Adams, with the final after two halves being a tie 1-1. However, Jesuit won penalty kicks 5-3. The one goal scored during regular time was by Ben Norman ’28, also assisted by Zane Roland. The five penalty kick goals came from Cooper McGough, Zane Roland, Corbyn Wendorf ’26Luca Shipley ’26, and Christian Bilger ’26. Jesuit had 13 shots, eight on goal, and Bryan Adams had six shots, three on goal. Jesuit would then advance to the final vs. Prosper after this tie.

Conclusion

Jesuit had a very strong three games and have a multitude of trends to keep up with like Zane Roland’s point streak, Cooper McGough’s scoring streak, and how the Jesuit defense only allowed 12 total shots, while having 38 shots on offense. They will definitely be a top team as the season goes on, and hopefully contenders for the State Championships!
