Jesuit Varsity Basketball Looks to “Be Consistent” this Upcoming Season

-

As Jesuit Varsity Basketball Head Coach Chris Hill looks forward to the upcoming season starting when the Rangers take on the Allen Eagles on November 14, he analyzes his team and what he could take away from last year’s season. Coach Hill, however, believes that “last year doesn’t have anything to do with this year.” This season, the Rangers look to create a new legacy for Jesuit Basketball.

Goals and Expectations for the Season

While Coach Hill is reluctant to use last season as an example or standard, he has set some expectations for the team coming into the year. Coach Hill strives for consistency, chemistry, and communication to help drive this team towards success.

“The main goal of the basketball program is to keep getting better; every day we come in we want to do what we can to improve, even if it’s just a little bit.”

The Rangers open the year with 11 straight non-district games against Allen, Coppell, Rowlett, Flower Mound, Liberty, Wakeland, Highland Park, Walnut Grove, De Smet Jesuit, Wakeland, and Plano West, before traveling to MacArthur to open a 12-game stretch of district games. Jesuit looks to remain strong in their last 12 games of the season, hopefully able secure a district title.

“We typically have a target on our back…so having won or lost in the past doesn’t impact how bad other teams want to beat us. There has never been an easy path to winning district. It is a long season with a lot of games. Winning district is really hard.”

Jesuit hopes to rely on its leaders and its chemistry to help take this team where it can go. The team looks forward to their season debut against Allen, and the Jesuit home debut against Rowlett. With a different team from last year, the coaching staff awaits the triumph and the struggle that comes with the season. Jesuit hopes to prepare the players well for the road ahead.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully, you’ll get a chance to catch the team play over the course of the upcoming season. Also, check out the Junior Varsity and Freshman team’s when they play as well. As for me personally, I look forward heavily to catching some of these games, as you should too!
