Teacher Profile: Allie Ramirez

-

After four years of teaching Jesuit’s summer art courses, Mrs. Ramirez has officially joined the main building as a full-time art teacher, bringing her creativity, passion, and energy to the Fine Arts Department. Known for her love of people and hands-on approach to teaching, she’s excited to inspire students to explore their artistic potential in her first year leading full-semester classes.

Personal Background

Mrs. Ramirez grew up in Duncanville, Texas, as the youngest of four siblings, and remains very close to her family. One of her favorite places to spend time is her family’s small farm in Glen Rose, located right on the Brazos River, where holidays are spent relaxing outdoors and enjoying life surrounded by animals and nature.

She now lives in North Oak Cliff with her husband and their three energetic boys, ages 12, 10, and 8. When she isn’t teaching, she’s likely cheering on the sidelines of their games — proudly calling herself the “loudest mom out there.”

Professional Journey

Mrs. Ramirez began her teaching career in 2007 at Bishop Dunne Catholic School, where she taught for 15 years and built strong relationships with her students. Afterward, she took three years to focus on being a full-time artist and mom, but she missed the energy and creativity of the classroom. Although this is her first year teaching full-semester art classes in Jesuit’s main building, Mrs. Ramirez isn’t new to the school. She’s been part of the Jesuit community for four years, previously teaching summer school courses such as watercolor where she discovered how much she enjoyed working with Jesuit students and staff.

Jesuit Connection

Her introduction to Jesuit came when she began teaching summer art classes several years ago, saying:

“I loved the admin team, and the students I taught were so fun.”

That experience sparked her decision to apply when a full-time opening became available. Now, Mrs. Ramirez is excited to bring her creativity and energy to the Jesuit art department full-time.

Teaching Philosophy

As an artist first, Mrs. Ramirez views teaching as an opportunity to blend creativity with connection. Inspired by her own high school graphic design teacher, who encouraged her to pursue art and “changed [her] entire life,” she hopes to create a classroom environment where students feel supported and inspired.

“My biggest goal this year is to make sure everyone feels comfortable, has fun, and enjoys expressing themselves through art. And honestly, I want to have fun too — art is the best subject to teach!”

Fun Facts About Mrs. Ramirez

  • Favorite movie: Almost Famous
  • Dream skill to master: Singing (“I’m terrible at it!”)
  • Go-to Jesuit lunch: The salad bar — “10/10”
  • Alternative careers she’d consider: Artist, farmer, thrift store owner, flower shop owner, or animal rescue founder
  • Favorite animal: A fox (they’ve always been her favorite)

As a student currently in her photography class, I can say firsthand that she is one of the most engaging teachers I’ve had. Her teaching style and passion makes you genuinely look forward to coming to class each day.
