The Rangers are on fire and out for blood in the UIL 7-6A district. In the past 3 matches, Jesuit has scored 22 goals and conceded none in an flattering display of a powerful offence and impenetrable defense. The team made UIL history in their matchup against Macarthur on February 1, leading with 8 goals the Rangers are the first team to enact UIL’s new mercy rule that was introduced for this season. Not only were the Rangers the first team to reach this threshold of 8 goals, they were also the second when Jesuit beat Irving Nimitz 8-0 on February 11.

Jesuit vs MacArthur (W 8-0)
The Rangers started off this match with a fiery pace, senior Andres Benitez scored the first goal in the 4th minute, rapidly followed up by senior Clyde Araiza less than 50 seconds later. Immediately establishing a strong lead, the team continued to dominate the field for the rest of the match. Jesuit would continue to score 6 more goals in the match from a total of 21 shots, 13 of which were on goal. This includes a goal from senior Noah McGough, two goals from sophomore Zane Roland, two goals from junior Cooper McGough, and the eighth goal to reach the mercy rule threshold from senior Hudson Thomas. Not only did the Rangers succeed offensively in making shots, they also dominated possession of the ball and defensive play, allowing MacArthur to only make one shot attempt, which was not on goal.

Jesuit vs Berkner (W 6-0)
Continuing a hot scoring streak, the Rangers set out against with ferocity, immediately starting the game off with a lead from a goal by senior Noah McGough in the 3rd minute. This set the tone for the match, as Jesuit continued to dominate the field in all regards. In total the rangers attempted 17 shots, ten of which were on goal, resulting in six goals. Senior Clyde Araiza made two goals and one assist, senior Drew Koshakji in a standout performance in the 78th minute also scored. Notably, sophomore Zane Roland, the team’s only sophomore, had an amazing performance with two gaols and assists.

Jesuit vs Irving Nimitz (W 8-0)
Reaching the mercy rule threshold for the second time this season, the Rangers proved triumphant in explosive fashion against Irving Nimitz. Senior Noah McGough and sophomore Zane Roland continued their scoring streaks, each scoring two goals. Seniors Octavio Monjaras, Max Sabogal and Clyde Araiza all scored a goal against Nimitz, an astute demonstration of the Rangers cohesive offensive capability.
Going Forward
These matches have set up the rangers for success, a goal differential of +22 is an amazing feat for a team for the season, yet alone from three games. The Rangers currently stand in strong contention for the district title, currently leading but facing a possible challenge in cross-district rival Lake Highlands.
