On Friday the November 15th, the Jesuit Rangers took on the Bowie Volunteers in the first round of the 2024 UIL Texas Football State Playoffs, conference 6A D2.Losing 42-56, while there were high hope coming off a 4 game win streak, the Rangers showed their perseverance and spirit, turning up the energy to match whatever Bowie threw their way.
Offense
The offense had a notable performance, becoming unstoppable in the second half, the Rangers were able to get up the field and execute plays efficiently, scoring double of what they had put up in the first half. Quarterback Charlie Peters‘25 threw for 332 yards, completing 35 passes out of 46 for 3touchdowns. Also rushing for a net 45 yards followed up by Henry Bourret’25, with a net of 25. With 112 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns and some very great catches, Wide Receiver Blake Bodnar’25 lead the receivers, closely followed up by Shane Parker’26, who had 104 receiving yards and a touchdown; as well as Jaeger Krauss ’25 having 85 receiving yards. Defensive back Merit Johnson’25 led in returns, with 59 returning yards, followed up closely again by Shane Parker’26, with 53.

Defense
Leading the defense, line backer Cooper Smith’25 had 3 solo tackles and 8 assists, leading with 11. Line backer Gabriel James’26 following him up with 10 assists, defensive backs Merit Johnson’25 and Jack McGoldrick’25 tying with 9 total tackles each. Defensive back Cabe Weissmueller’26 also having 3 solo and 5 assists for a total of 9. Defensive back Sophomore Andres Vann’27 had 4 solo tackles as well.
