On October 22, Jesuit Swimming and Diving hosted their annual Red vs. Blue Intrasquad meet. This event served as a fun and light-hearted meet for Jesuit as they prepare for tougher competitions, while also allowing some new swimmers to compete in events they don’t usually swim.
The squads from Jesuit and Ursuline were divided into two teams: the Red and the Blue. During each event, an even mix of swimmers from both teams raced against each other, and the combined point totals for Jesuit and Ursuline were tallied at the end of the meet.

Notable Swims
200 Individual Medley (IM)
The Red team captured both first and third place in this event. Jonah Ruhl ’27 won with a time of 1:58.95, while Flyn Hughes ’25 of the Blue team took second in a close race with a time of 2:08.27. Drew Shippey ’27 finished closely behind in third with a time of 2:08.87.
100 Fly
The race between Red and Blue was highly competitive and came down to the final touch. The Blue team took first and third place, with Flyn Hughes winning at 54.99 and Sam Kennington ’26 finishing in third at 56.55. Drew Shippey of the Red team secured second place with a time of 55.41.
500 Free
The Blue team emerged victorious with Sebastian Suwanda ’26 clocking in at a 4:56.75. The Red team placed second and third with Luke Lary ’26 finishing at 5:01.16 and JP McCosker ’27 at 5:22.29.
200 Free Relay
The Red team dominated this event, taking the top three spots. The “A” relay team of Jackson Addison-Jordan ’26, Michael Hasenfratz ’25, Drew Shippey, and Jonah Ruhl finished first with a time of 1:33.75. In a closely contested race for second, the Red “C” relay (Nash Feighny ’25, Sebastian Ordaz ’28, Luke Wiley ’25, Charlie Plummer ’28) claimed silver with a time of 1:42.75, while the Red “B” relay (Oliver Miller ’25, Tyler Ezetendu ’28, William Hutchins ’27, McCosker) finished just behind for bronze at 1:43.03.
100 Breast
The Red team won this event, but the Blue team secured the second and third places. Oliver Miller (Red) narrowly out-touched Grant Wilton ’27 (Blue) with times of 1:06.70 and 1:06.94, respectively. Third place was claimed by Blue’s Michael Sanmiguel ’27, who finished at 1:12.76.
400 Free Relay
This event showcased one of the biggest rivalries of the meet. The Red “A” relay won with a time of 3:22.62 (Ruhl, Shippey, Addison-Jordan, Lary), while the Blue “A” relay (Kennington, Michael Tobin ’27, Hughes, Suwanda) finished second at 3:31.92, and the Blue “B” relay (Porter Pope ’28, Sam Carley ’25, Peter Hasik ’27, Javi Ruiz ’28) touched in third at 3:49.60.
Results
Overall, using the combined scores of Jesuit and Ursuline, the Red team emerged victorious with a score of 204-147. The Blue team competed fiercely throughout the meet, achieving wins in events such as the 500 Free and the 100 Breast. Despite being divided for a few hours, both sides came together as one team—Blue and Gold Rangers—ready to perform well against their upcoming opponents.
