Jesuit Football Returns to Grace: Finishes Regular Season with a four-win streak

-

Initially struggling at the start of the season, especially in the face of strong opponents such as Highland Park and Lake Highlands, the Rangers came back to their strengths to finish conference play 5-2. Amid the gloomy rain and dreary weather, the Rangers had a great sendoff for Senior Night, with excellent performance for both offense and defense. As a result, Jesuit will play Arlington Bowie in the bi-district round on Friday the 17th of November.

“Even though 4/5 of our starting skill position players have been out at various times this season, we recognise that’s out of our control but we still battle through it and we have a team who will step up.” – Jaeger Krauss ’25, Captain (WR)

And step up did the Rangers, with dominant victories against Irving MacArthur (41-27), Richardson (42-28), Berkner (38-11) and Nimitz (56-14).

Senior RB Henry Bourret (Jesuit Athletics)

Offense

Jesuit did not let the rain simmer their hopes. Scoring began quickly, with the Rangers leading Irving 42-7 at the half. Senior quarterback Charlie Peters had a phenomenal night, successfully making 18 out of 20 passes for a total of 238 yards and two touchdowns; Peters also rushed for one 38 yards and one touchdown. Multiple other rushing touchdowns were made during the game, with Senior Henry Bourret rushing for two touchdowns and senior Ryan Engelhardt rushing for one touchdown, in total the team had 163 rushing yards. Collaborating with the strong performance from both Peters and fellow senior QB Will Naughton, Senior Jack Yeskie caught five passes for 61 yards and senior Sebastian Ferraez caught two passes for 35 yards. Receiving touchdowns were made by seniors Jaeger Krauss, Blake Bodnar, Jett Kipness and Jude Kruse.

“I’m really proud of this team and the effort we’ve put in this season and we’re going to give it our all in the playoffs.” – Michaeal Martin ’25 (O-Line)

Defense

The Rangers defense supported the tempo set by the offense, allowing Nimitz only two touchdowns in the game. Seniors Julien Bird and Cooper Smith alongside junior Cabe Weissmueller led the team with seven tackles each. Seniors Cade Gill and Cole Hatzmann, alongside juniors Cole Wombacher and Tanner Krug all made tackles for losses to set back Nimitz. Jesuit played with profound efficiency and worked in unison for the last time of their highschool careers at Ranger Stadium.

“i couldn’t have asked for a better group of guys to play with for these four years” – merritt Johnson ’25 (DB)

Following their impressive four-win streak and 5-2 performance in district play, the Rangers will take on Arlington Bowie on Friday the 15th of November.
