Jesuit Dallas Football Victorious Against Jesuit New Orleans

After the unfortunate Week One loss to Hebron, the Jesuit Rangers rallied to secure their first win against the Jesuit New Orleans’ Blue Jays in a 28 to 20 contest.

Jesuit New Orleans came out quickly, scoring on the first play from scrimmage, taking a fast lead in the game. But the Rangers responded with an electric 28 unanswered points, clinging to a commanding lead throughout the game.

“Great team win, the offense had a great first half and the defense saved the game towards the end. We really all came together to battle the rain and travel conditions and get a great win in the swamp.” – Captain Jaeger Kruass ’25

Notable offensive player Jaeger Krauss ’25 excelled, catching two touchdown passes and closing with seven receptions for 74 yards. His quarterback, Charlie Peters ’25, also excelled, throwing 20-for-30 behind center for 143 yards with two touchdowns and rushing for 33 yards on 15 carries.

Throughout the game, the Rangers were relentless on defense and special teams as Cade Gill ’25 blocked a punt, leading to great field position and a Rangers touchdown. Additionally, Juniors Gabriel James and Parker Sherman shined, accumulating 16 tackles with a sack and a tackle for loss.

Towards the end of the game, the Jesuit Rangers held an 8-point lead throughout the fourth quarter, breaking up two fourth-down conversions by Jesuit New Orleans. Notable player Merritt Johnson ’25 clinched the win for the Rangers with a fourth-down pass breakup in the endzone, securing the Rangers first win of the season.

The Jesuit Rangers will face off against Highland Park, currently ranked 1st amongst 5A teams in Texas, on September 13 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University.
