The Jesuit Journal – Fall 2023 Issue

-

Last December, the school art magazine released its Fall 2023 issue.

The cover featured freshman Jonathan Shu’s ’27 striking watercolor.

Entrants in the fall art contest submitted work created during the 2023 calendar year. The winners were Wil Carroll ’24, for his mixed media art Beast of Burden, Matthew Toker ’24, for his drawing on scratchboard, and Casimir Kenjarski ’24, for his personal essay and photographs of his own personal coral reef.

Austin Keith ’24 submitted stunning photographs from Rome — one of the much deserved honorable mentions.

Mario Jaar ’24 received the other honorable mention for his photography.

Other standouts to this issue:

  • the Journal printed a boxing article written by senior Peter Loh ’24,
  • a fiction piece by Evan Velasquez ’24,
  • first-time submissions from students Sam Kephart ’25, Alec Ramon ’25, Bennett McPhaul ’25, Kieran Welborne ’24, and Matthew Alcala-Frederick ’25.
