Jesuit Swimming and Diving recently completed a perfect 10-0 regular season, their first undefeated season since 2020-21. The Rangers are now gearing up for the post-season, starting with the District 7-6A JV Championships. The event took place on Tuesday, January 23 at the Gull. At the meet, the Rangers faced off against the JV lineups of other schools in their district, including Richardson High School, J.J. Pearce, Berkner and Cistercian Preparatory School. The Rangers finished first and swept all 11 events, dominating the competition.

Notable Swims
200 Freestyle
Jesuit’s swimmers went 1-2-3 in this event. Freshman Peter Hasik went on to win with a four-second drop in time from his previous best time, followed by Juniors Jackson Powell and Luke Wiley. Wiley would also grab a new personal best time for himself. All three swimmers performed remarkably to kick off their final meet for the season.
200 Individual Medley
Jesuit took 1-2 victories in this event, both by freshmen. Michael Sanmiguel won the event with a best time of 2:23.20, followed by Charlie Gall with a personal best time of 2:25.43. These two freshmen went on to record some great swims in other events later in the meet.
50 Freestyle
Jesuit took the top six spots in this event, many of these swimmers being right off their best times or dropping substantial amounts of time to create new personal bests. Sophomore Jihaad Houston would win this event with a time of 25.43, followed by Senior Theo Carley, Sophomore Jack Stevens, Junior Ale Acosta, Senior Mateo Young, and Freshman Michael Schwabe. All six swimmers were within 1.5 seconds of each other.
400 Freestyle
Two freshmen would lead this event with a 1-2 victory. Freshman Grant Wilton finished first with a time of 4:18.00, followed by Freshman Peter Hasik with a time of 4:31.22. Both distance swimmers went astonishing times that would help them prepare for future distance events such as the 200 and 500 freestyles.
100 Breaststroke
Jesuit had the top three swimmers in this event, all of them being underclassmen. Freshman Grant Wilton led off with a 1:09.47 win, followed by Freshman Michael Sanmiguel with a PB time of 1:14.10 and Sophomore Teddy Matthews; Matthews experienced a large drop in time from a 1:22.70 to an astounding personal best of 1:17.09. These would be amazing final swims for the 2023-24 season for these swimmers.

Looking Ahead to the Postseason
On Saturday, January 27, Jesuit will bring many of their swimmers and divers to the District 7-6A Championships at the Alfred J. Loos Natatorium. They will face off against tough opponents such as Highland Park and J.J. Pearce but will hopefully continue their victories and pick up 1st place in these championships.
The top six swimmers in each event from Districts will advance onto the 6A Regional Championships and face familiar opponents from other schools such as Flower Mound and Coppell. Regionals will be held at the Lewisville ISD Westside Aquatic Center from Friday, February 9 – Saturday, February 10. Any swimmers that place in the top two in their events in Finals at Regionals will be allowed to advance to the UIL 6A State Championships in Austin, TX.
