Jesuit Swimming & Diving picked up a 126-40 win over Highland Park, improving to 4-0 on the season. The Rangers went 12-for-12 in event wins during the meet, sweeping their district rivals. In their first of many meetings during the season, Jesuit dominated. While Highland Park was missing some of their key swimmers, we still gained a good preview to this year’s District 7-6A Championships.

Notable Swims
200 Freestyle- Jesuit showcased its formidable 1-2 punch of freshman Jonah Ruhl and sophomore Sebastian Suwanda during the meet. Ruhl would pick up the win, going a 1:48.19, while Suwanda would take 2nd with a 1:49.34. Both swimmers were a couple of seconds off their respective best times and should be a threat come time for the postseason.
50 Freestyle- The Ranger’s Sam Kennington (23.25), Alexander McSorley (24.07), and Teddy Scherer (24.09) went 1-2-3 in this event. This trio showed that they will be an absolute threat at districts.
100 Butterfly- Jesuit three-headed dragon went 1-2-4 in this event picking up a treasure trove of points. Sophomore Luke Lary (54.46) and Junior Fylnn Hughes (54.73) went 1st and 2nd, respectively. Freshman Drew Shippey would continue his success placing fourth with a time of 56.22.
100 Backstroke- Both Flynn Hughes and Jonah Ruhl went to work. They would each go 1st and 2nd, going 55.37 and 59.10, respectively. Hughes would out touch Highland Park’s Nathan Chan, who finished third, by three tenths of a second.
Swimmer of the Meet
The swimmer of the meet goes to Jonah Ruhl ’27. Ruhl picked up a pair of wins in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. He would contribute to two more wins in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay splitting a 25.95 and 50.84, respectively. Overall Ruhl showed he’s a very big threat to the district.
Looking Ahead
Jesuit will face stiff competition in the next two months. On November 17th-18th they return to the Lewisville ISD Westside Aquatics Center for the annual North Zone TISCA, a prelim-final meet. Then, the Rangers will return home to host the Greenhill Hornets. Jesuit closes out the 2023 calendar year at home, welcoming back former swimmers at the 1st Annual Jesuit Dallas Alumni Meet.
