Jesuit Football Closes District With a Win on Senior Night

Jesuit football has been very good this very boasting an impressive 7-3 record, securing them third in the district. There has been much improvement as the year has gone on and everything is running like a well oiled machine. The defense has started to make big stops when needed and the offense has been making impressive play after impressive play. This was no different this past week with a huge 42-21 win over Richardson to finish district play.

The game opened with a special ceremony with all the seniors who participate as players, managers, and trainers. Band members, Rangerettes, and cheer was recognized later. Each member was recognized in celebration of their service to the Jesuit community over the past four years. Everyone’s name was called out and walked with their parents.

The team did not come out hot, allowing Richardson to score early and came out frankly dead. The score was 14-14 at half. Thanks to motivational talks from the leaders of the team the team came out firing in the second half and forced multiple huge stops on defense. The offense was able to capitalize on the turnovers and got a huge 42-21 lead to close out the game.

Looking ahead Jesuit will play Arlington Bowie this week on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 at Wilemon Stadium. Bowie has been very impressive this year, with a 7-3 record and securing the second place spot in their district. Their three losses are to Mesquite Horn, Plano, and Arlington Martin. These two teams have only faced each twice, in 2014 and 2015 and have split the series. In 2014 Jesuit lost 72-49, then won in 2015 56-0. This is a very beatable team and they have shown their weakness against less talented opponents. With that being said it is also a very loseable game if the defense cannot make the big required stops to change the momentum of the game. The offense has to come out firing unlike last week against Richardson, and they have to protect the ball. I predict that it will be a very good game, with Jesuit coming out on top.
