2023 Thank a Donor Day Preview

-

Jesuit Dallas offers over 1,150 students a premier education through grades 9-12. The students come from over 100 different zip codes and 125 middle schools. To understand how our education has been made possible, we have to understand where our school’s funding comes from; therefore, our school has introduced the second edition of Thank a Donor Day. Thank a Donor Day aims to shed light on how our generous donors make our experience at Jesuit possible, as without them, the community we have here would be vastly different.

“Thank a Donor Day was a very cool experience last year and I learned a lot about the role donors play in our lives here.” – Cooper Cutler ’24

Why are donors important?

Donors invest in our school to ensure that our faculty and staff have the necessary resources to be successful. Gifts from benefactors also give students who might need help to afford the school the ability to attend through financial aid. For example, Jesuit provided over $3.1 million in financial aid to over 30% of Jesuit students, showing the vital importance of our school’s benefactors. Donors include current parents, alums, parents of graduates, grandparents, foundations, corporations, friends of Jesuit, Jesuit faculty, and staff members. Another exciting fact is that 100% of Jesuit faculty and staff have made a donation to support the school’s mission and the student’s success.

Jesuit will be holding its second Thank a Donor Day today with the intention of increasing student awareness regarding the importance of the donors involved with our school. Please come out ready to celebrate our donors’ support!

Alumni Phonathon

Thank a Donor Day is also happening around the same time as the Alumni Phonathon. This event is a vital time for Jesuit as it is when alums return to Jesuit to help bring in donations for the school. The alums invite their Jesuit brothers over the phone to give back to Jesuit Dallas through generous investments and donations. This year’s Phonathon will take place during the week of November 13-16th. For more information on the Phonathon, you can click this link.

Thank a Donor Day

Thank a Donor Day will take place today in the hallway between the cafeteria and the community service offices. Both students and faculty will be asked to participate in this event by writing a thank you note, taking a photo with a gratitude sign, and submitting a testimonial thank you video for the video contest. The goal again is to educate our students and give them the ability to show their appreciation for our donors.

This year, a video contest has also been added to the events. Participants will be asked to submit a brief video to express their gratitude towards our school’s benefactors. The top three submissions will receive prizes as follows; a $25 gift card to Ranger Connection for third place, a $50 gift card to Chick-Fil-A for 2nd place, and the top submission will receive a $75 gift card to Ranger Connection. The deadline for these submissions will be November 15th at 5:00 PM. To submit your unique video, scan the QR code below for more details.

“I’m excited to thank our donors for their selfless contribution to such an important cause.” – Sammy McFarland ’24

“I can’t wait to learn more about these donors’ roles in our education and how they help us.” – Will Naughton ’25

The Roundup hopes to see you all there today to help show our gratitude to Jesuit’s donors.
