The Rangers have been riding high these past few weeks. Training and team morale are high. Jesuit opened the season with a 131-22 win over Bishop Lynch, setting a program record for widest margin of victory. After that, the Rangers hosted their annual Intrasquad meet with Ursuline Academy, the underclassmen winning that contest. Jesuit continued their success against Coppell High School on October 19th with a 116-70 win. With this win, Jesuit improved to 2-0 on the season.

Pool Records
There were 2 pool records broken. The team of Jonah Ruhl ’27, William Savarese ’24, Luke Lary ’26, and Sam Kennington ’26 clocked a time of 1:39.93 in the 200 Medley Relay. Jonah Ruhl ’27 came away with his own pool record with 55.02 100 backstroke, setting the record by .27 seconds.
Notable Swims
There were many notable swims at this meet. Here are a few:
200 Medley Relay- This is a notable swim not only for the school record. For the first time, we got to see a fully stacked relay in action. Jonah Ruhl, William Savarese, Luke Lary, and Sam Kennington showed up. Posting a time of 1:39.93, they are only four seconds from the school record (1:35.25 set in 2011). This squad could very well shatter the record come time for championship season.

50 Freestyle- Sam Kennington absolutely popped off! Recording a 22.62, Sam would have qualified for the 6A State Championships this past year. Not only that, but he proved he has the ability to take down some of the top swimmers in the region.
100 Freestyle- Once again, Sam Kennington had an excellent swim. He recorded a time of 50.87. Last year, that would’ve been enough to “B” final at the Regional meet. There is no doubt that, should Sam improve over the course of the season, he should be able to be top 8, vying for a spot at state.
100 Butterfly- The 100-butterfly showcased Jesuit’s three-headed dragon at that event: Junior Flynn Hughes, Sophomore Luke Lary, and Freshmen Drew Shippey. All three swimmers went under 58 seconds, and we’re only at the beginning of the season. As the season progresses, all three could be under 55.
Swimmer of the Meet
Swimmer of the meet without a doubt goes to Sam Kennington ’26. Kennington swam state qualifying times at this meet and is sure to get better as the season goes along. He also proved himself a lethal sprinter that could very well go to state.
Upcoming Meets
Up next, the Rangers will face a tough road test, traveling to Flower Mound to face the reigning Region 2-6A champions Flower Mound High School. Flower Mound has some notable weapons including Luke Garret, a Winter Juniors qualifier, and Made Jaya, another winter Juniors qualifier. Jesuit should matchup pretty nicely though. It will be interesting to see how Coach Doug will rearrange the event lineups of his swimmers.
The action against Flower Mound kicks off at 6:00pm at the Lewisville ISD Westside Aquatic Center!
