Jesuit Annual Mother Son Brunch Recap

-

On Sunday, March 8th, 2023, Jesuit students and their moms gathered for Mass and brunch. Many students took pictures with their mothers and many smiles were seen.

“My first Jesuit Mother-Son Brunch was a wonderful opportunity to meet my son’s friends and their moms. The young men who spoke were impressive. It was especially touching to hear the students; all of the staff recognize the role Jesuit moms play in the lives of their sons. It’s a privilege to be counted among these amazing moms.” -Sarah Lary, mother of Luke Lary ’26

Mass

To begin the event, Mr. Earsing spoke on all the mother figures in our lives and how much they love us. He reinforced that point with a story about what his aunt did after he got his hand stuck in the middle of a renovation site. After Mr. Earsing’s speech, Mass was celebrated by Fr. Tom Cloherty, a Jesuit Dallas graduate. That Sunday, the story of the Transfiguration was read. In his homily, Father Tom talked about the love a mother has for her son and he also spoke about the Virgin Mary as our spiritual mother.

Brunch and Speakers

After mass, mothers and sons alike enjoyed a fantastic meal of tacos, potatoes, and fruit. The main event followed when Coleton Power ’23, Luke Asche ’23, and Zachary Asche ’23 delivered speeches. Luke and Zach delivered home on the point that our mothers are there to support us and our mothers will love us unconditionally. Colton spoke about appreciating all the things our moms do for us.

The Jesuit Community’s Take

“It was a fantastic opportunity to speak in front of my peers and all of the wonderful mothers who joined us that day. Walking up the stage with my twin brother and speaking valiant and positive words regarding mothers proves our mom holds a designated spot in our hearts.” -Luke Asche ’23
