The movie Black Adam was a masterpiece– a great storyline, exciting twists, and the best special effects I have ever seen.
Actors
Of course, we all know that the great Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the main character of the movie, being Black Adam himself. But many actors other than The Rock have made quite a career in Hollywood.
This list includes Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate) in Mamma Mia, Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher) in any teenage romance movie, and of course, Henry Cavill (Superman), superman himself.
Summary
The movie starts in ancient Kahndaq. Black Adam, also known as Teth Adam, was given the powers of the gods to free his oppressed people from an unjust ruler. Though instead of freedom, he uses his gift for destruction and vengeance. Then he was imprisoned by the gifters of his powers because of his vindictiveness. Nearly 5,000 years passed, and he was released from his prison. Now to make up for his wrongdoings and save Kahndaq from their new oppressors in his unique form of justice. He is challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone. Each is seeking his eternal imprisonment because of his immense power. This fear of Black Adam causes the reckless decision to imprison him again.
Black Adam and the Justice Society begin to team up through many fights and other conflicts due to a new threat, Sabbac. This shows a shift in the villain of the movie. Initially, Black Adam shifts to Sabbac, a satan figure who harnesses power from demons. Teaming up with the Justice Society, Black Adam defeats Sabbac saving Kahndaq. He then becomes the King of Kahndaq and the protector.
Message
The movie focuses on the revenge of Teth Adam’s son, who gave Teth Adam (Father) the power initially given to him (son) to save his father’s life but lose his own. This vindictive rage for his son’s death causes a need for revenge and results in the imprisonment of Black Adam. A gift that haunts him because he knows the cost of it. Once he returns, he continues his rage, protecting Kahndaq from its oppressors. But, he soon learns to control his emotions and accept the path toward the salvation of Kahndaq, not through madness but through love for his people.
This shows the development of Black Adam throughout the movie and sets us up for a new sort of hero similar to Deadpool in Marvel.
DC vs. Marvel
Marvel was undoubtedly the better franchise in the past, but as these new movies are coming out on both sides, they are much closer than they appear to be. Since the movie Endgame, Marvel has rebranded its image with new heroes and villains while DC has built on to its universe. At this point, every DC movie is beginning to correlate with each other excitedly, while I feel Marvel is losing its magic touch.
Through the next couple of months, we will see the expansion of the DC universe and, hopefully, the overtaking of Marvel.

Black Adam displays multiple connections between each of the DC movies. This shows the evermore connectedness of the DC universe and each movie’s correlation.
Shazam
In Black Adam, we see the expansion of the idea initially brought by the movie Shazam. We see the original 7 wizards’ siblings who gave Black Adam his powers and how 6 died when taking away his powers. This explains why in Shazam, there is only 1 wizard. It also explains why he is growing weak in Shazam because of the loss of his brothers.
In Black Adam, we also see the use of the word Shazam. The word Shazam summons his powers in Shazam, similar to Black Adam. In Black Adam, (Teth) Adam uses the word Shazam to call and recall his powers.
The power correlation between Black Adam and Shazam is also very noticeable. Each has super strength, flight, bulletproof, and, most notably, the power to create and manipulate lightning.
What to Come
The movie’s ending scene was significant with the revealment of Superman and Black Adam. In a threatening way, Amanda Waller (The leader in charge of the superhero agency) attempts to intimidate Black Adam. This leads to the reveal of Superman and Black Adam’s possible future conflicts. Could there be a Superman vs. Black Adam movie?
