Whether in the hallways or cafeteria, freshmen deliberate who will best represent their class. As elections close, three distinct candidates were nominated to the freshmen student council board.
Freshman President: Nathan Long
Currently, as a football player and former student body vice president at St. Rita, Nathan emphasizes on the importance of representing Jesuit. This can occur through “getting a good grade on a test” or “picking up trash at Chick-Fil-A.”
Nathan says, “I feel truly honored to be elected into this position by my peers and am grateful for the opportunity to be able to change Jesuit for the better with the help of my classmates and student body.”
In addition, Nathan adds that “some of my personal goals are to gather more input from the students to help them balance their personal, academic, and athletic lives and help create more working/social environments for them. Also, I plan on improving efficiency in certain parts of the school and using the Student Council’s budget to help fund clubs and extracurricular activities.”
Freshman Vice President: Luke Wilson
Luke is a member of the Hope Squad and a student manager of the freshmen basketball team.
Luke enthusiastically states, “First of all, I am looking forward to working with my brothers and can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Also, I am definitely excited to be able to make change for the better and hope to do so with the advice of my peers. Thank you to all who voted for me!”
Freshman Representative: William Wayne
At Jesuit, William is a tennis player and member of the Jesuit BBQ Smokies. In addition, William has served at Soul Church on many occasions.
William states, “I believe that I can really represent my class by communicating with others. Also, I will talk with others in my grade and get incite on what they think would be a good change. Finally, I will use my leadership skills from my last school to help lead and support my peers.”
Conclusion
Following the elections, a bright future for the class of 2026 shines clearly. Mr. Host says that “the three newly elected freshman class officers all possess high energy, optimism, and creativity. Furthermore, they are ideally suited to lead the class of 2026 in a positive, constructive manner.
