Jesuit Tennis Continues Its Match Dominance Into The Spring Season Against JPII

-

Prior to the “snowpocalypse,” the Jesuit tennis team continued its hot streak of matches. This time, the team came out on top against John Paul II in Plano. On February 9th, a frigid night, foreshadowing what was to come the following week, the Rangers traveled up to Plano to face JPII. The Rangers dominated the score sheet all night with a few tight matches. In the end, Jesuit pulled away with an 11-4 match victory.

Match Report

In the doubles round, the match score was close, with Jesuit winning three of the five doubles matches. Blake Woodard ’22 and Paco Lorenzo ’22 won a close match on paper but not on the score sheet. The Junior duo finished the match with a 6-2, 6-0 match win. Joey Trigiani ’22 and I played a hard-fought match at first that ended up in domination in the end. That doubles match ended with a 6-1, 6-1 match victory for the Rangers. Overall in the doubles round, Jesuit finished with a 3-2 match record against JPII.

In the singles round, the Rangers were able to quickly pull away and secure their victory. In the freezing cold, Ryan secured his victory in an outstanding show of strength and perseverance. Another notable match was the one that Calum Taylor ’21 played in. In a back and forth duel with his opponent, Calum won the first set with a score of 7-6 in a tiebreak.
