Exciting Updates from the Jesuit Museum

-

Each and every day, students and faculty alike walk down hallways brimming with color and energy. Without a doubt, Jesuit wouldn’t quite be Jesuit without wonderful pieces of artwork and sculptures filling the walls and ceilings. Not too many high schools can say they have over 500 pieces of artwork nor could they say their school also acts as a museum! Fortunately, we not only have the utmost luxury of being able to look at artwork every day but we also have the rare privilege of a museum that constantly receives new, fresh pieces from donors and artists alike!

In this article, we will be going over all the new changes that the Museum has given the school to enjoy!

Core Documents Verification:

On December 1st, the Jesuit Dallas Museum passed the Core Documents Verification from AAM or the Alliance of American Museums. This is a fantastic achievement for the Museum because earning the core documents verification “means an internationally recognized professional organization for the museum industry has verified—through expert review—that the museum has an educational mission, strategic plan, code of ethics, and emergency and collections stewardship policies in place that meet standard practices of professional museums.” In other words, this is a momentous leap for the Museum as it marks a path towards excellence and distinguishing the museum as a professional member of the museum field. All in all, this award helps signify how special Jesuit really is!

“Make Friends with Life and People”

New Works from James Razzi:

Recently, Jesuit has acquired new pieces of artwork from the Brooklyn native, James Razzi! Located in the counseling offices, these new pieces will surely add some joy and happiness to your day! Most notably, James Razzi was the official artist for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as the first living artist to design stamps for the German government. In his own words, Razzi did his best work when “I just sit and draw without any set ideas and it just comes out – if you are in the right creative mood, things seem to happen naturally”. Jesuit was fortunate enough to receive the piece’s Make Friends with Life and People,” and Uptown, Westside, Downtown, Eastside”, “Birds in a Junkyard” and “Everyone wants to win the World Cup”! Make sure to check them out soon!

As Jesuit students, we are so lucky to have such amazing access to hundreds of art pieces just like James Razzi’s and Core Document verifications show just how much effort the museum staff puts into their work. Personally, I cannot wait to see what new, beautiful pieces we will see hanging on our walls next!
