This article’s purpose is to inform and report; written on an unbiased basis, providing information from the DNC.

Let us start off with a brief introduction: The DNC’s primary goal is to officially nominate a candidate for president and vice president, adopt a uniform party platform and unite the party. So, the Democratic Party at the DNC formally nominated the next president and vice president of the US. At the convention, delegates of the United States Democratic Party chose former Vice president Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris of California as the party’s nominees in the 2020 United States presidential election.

Day 1

  • 1. Kasich and other Republicans made their case for backing Biden: Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich and a trio of other former top Republicans argued that the President has been a “disappointing” and “disturbing” failure. Kasich said he was “proud” of his Republican heritage, but that Trump’s first term “belies those principles.” Much disapproval was expressed.
  • 2. A moment of silence was held for George Floyd: Philonise Floyd, George Floyd’s brother, held a moment of silence in honor of his brother and “the many other souls we’ve lost to hate and injustice…. it’s up to us to carry on the fight for justice. Our actions will be their legacies.” 2020 has been a huge year for the Black Lives Matter which has been and is a very pertinent topic.
  • 3. Sanders aimed to inspire his followers to support Biden: The senator from Vermont offered his most forceful argument yet on behalf of former primary rival Joe Biden, prompting his supporters to back the Democratic nominee in November or risk seeing “all the progress we have made” be thrown out. He also urged Democrats to come together and “remove the most dangerous President in history.

  • 4. Michelle Obama issued a nasty assessment of Trump: Obama called Trump the “wrong” president for the United States and said the White House is failing to provide “steadiness” and instead is only leading to “chaos, division, and a total and utter lack of empathy.” The former first lady urged Americans to go out in vote for Joe Biden.
  • 5. Cuomo highlighted the country’s failure to contain the coronavirus pandemic is a “symptom” of a deeper rot in government. Those troubles didn’t begin with President Donald Trump’s rise, Cuomo said, but they have become worse during his time in office. Also, Kristin Urquiza, slammed Trump’s coronavirus response. “Donald Trump may not have caused the coronavirus, but his dishonesty and his irresponsible actions made it so much worse,” Urquiza said. “One of the last things that my father said to me was that he felt betrayed by the likes of Donald Trump.

The night featured the formal nomination of Joe Biden for president in addition to the convention’s keynote address, which is often a top draw of the week.

  • Democrats attempted a new format, which was delivered in split screen by young Democratic officials.
  • Jill Biden asks how you make a nation whole, making a passionate argument for her husband, saying the newly minted Democratic nominee knows what it will take to make a broken nation whole, because he has done the same in his own family.

Day 3

  • Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, joined Kamala Harris tonight on stage after she became the first Black and South Asian woman to be nominated to a major party’s ticket.

  • In her acceptance speech, Harris paid tribute to the Black women that came before her, she prompted Americans to fight and she vowed to fight for the nation.
  • “Let’s fight with conviction. Let’s fight with hope. Let’s fight with confidence in ourselves, and a commitment to each other. To the America we know is possible.
  • Democrats hammered away at a theme: Make a plan to vote.
  • Reminded Americans that they need to vote in the 2020 election. Democrats are growing increasingly concerned about the president’s rhetoric bringing up questions about the legitimacy of the November vote.
  • Party leaders worry that people will be reluctant to vote in person because of the coronavirus pandemic. They expect an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots and are planning a robust effort to make sure voters cast their ballots early or mail them in time to be counted.

Day 4

  • Joe Biden officially accepted the Democratic party’s presidential nomination from Delaware. He called this election a “battle for the soul of the nation” and said “united we can and will overcome this season of darkness in America.”

  • Biden wants history to “say that the end of this chapter of American darkness begin here tonight as love and hope and light join in the battle for the soul of the nation…and this is a battle we will win, and we’ll do it together,” Biden said.
