Campus Ministry Helps Out at Trunk-or-Treat

-

A small kid dressed up as a pumpkin waddles up to the table. They say “trick-or-treat” in their high-pitched voice. You grab a handful of candy and put it in their bag. A voice from behind asks, “What do you say,” and the small voice sweetly replies, “thank you.”

On October 29, 2019, members from the Campus Ministry team helped out at Jesuit’s annual Trunk-or-Treat.

Setting Up Before

Due to weather, the trunk-or-treat turned in to a table-or-treat. Every group decorated their tables in the Terry Center. Campus Ministry members met in HH100 to prep their decorations for the table after having pizza. They decorated pumpkins and got lights and decorated the box for the candy. Ben Rodenbaugh ’20 mentioned, “Decorating the pumpkins and putting together a table with, honestly, no theme was really fun.

It was a team effort to transport all the candy and decorations to the Terry Center. Dozens of other groups were setting up when Campus Ministry arrived. Clark Brown ’21 commented, “I was happy to see such a large crowd of people. I wanted the kids to have a great time.”

Time to Trunk-or-treat

To start us off, Mrs. Gretchen Crowder led the group in prayer. We all gathered in a large circle to pray for victims of the recent storms and the coming event. After the prayer, the groups finished their tables. Once the table was put together, the Campus Ministry team waited for the trick-or-treaters.

Many people arrived at the event, even some of our own Jesuit faculty. Familiar faces such as Mr. TJ Howard and Mr. Joe Nava with their kids to have some fun. Everywhere, kids would run up asking candy then moving on to the next table.

A big thank you to everyone who helped out or attended Trunk-Or-Treat and check back into The Roundup for more Campus Ministry news!
