The Junior Varsity Baseball players warm up around the diamond, loosening their arms while throwing the ball around. As they head into the dugout and the games begin, the victories roll in.
So far this season, the JV team has had tremendous success, with a 16-2-1 record losing only to Prosper.
Tino Ramirez ’20 said, “We don’t like that we lost one game and it makes us want to beat every opponent by as many runs as possible.”
In conference games they are undefeated with six wins, and at home they claim nine victories and one tie. While away they have outperformed as well with seven victories and two ties.
Similarly, the freshman team has reciprocated this success holding a 6-1-1 record with victories over Wylie East, Frisco Ready, Timber Creek, and Hebron. They lost closely to Flower Mound (1-0), and tied Frisco Wakeland (3-3).
While playing against Frisco and Frisco Liberty, the baseball team has blown out the competition with unyielding victory scoring an unanswered 27 points against both teams combined showing off their athletic prowess. The final box score amounted to 17-0 against Frisco, and 10-0 against Frisco Liberty.
Jack Devereux ’20 commented, “One thing that Coach Pointer stresses to us everyday is that we cannot become content.” The players must stay determined and on top of their competition to succeed.
Ramirez added, “We are never content with our one loss record,
and it drives us to put our full effort into winning every game.”
While playing against South Grand Prairie, Naaman Forest, and Argyle they have also beaten out their opponents thoroughly.
“We are able to have fun while we are playing while the same time being able to go out and compete against any team” Devereux remarked.
He continued, “Although we only have one loss on the season, that’s still not good enough, we would have liked for that number to stay at zero but we cannot change what has already happened and must focus on maintaining that one in the loss column.” The team has success in their sights for the future and they have the drive to back it up.
