The Rest of 2018: Set Hype to Max Warp!

-

There is nothing better than a new game.  For this article I decided to do something a bit different. I think everyone knows what it’s like to get hyped for a new game in his favorite franchises, and because there’s a really good lineup for 2018 from almost every developer, I thought I’d share what I’m excited for and what I plan to review this year. This list isn’t my final list, and its open to change. This is just what I want to review in 2018.

Far Cry 5

I’m not sure what to think about Far Cry 5, because it seems to be a massive departure from every other game in the series. Other than that, I think this looks pretty good. The visuals are stunning and the cult vs. police premise is intriguing. It will be interesting to see a non-horror game use a cult as the main antagonist.

Mario Tennis Aces

I have no real reason to be hyped for this one, but for some reason, I really want Mario Tennis. This may have to do with the fact that there’s motion controls like in Wii Sports, and since my copy doesn’t work anymore, this is the next best thing. Also you can play tennis as a Chain Chomp, which I am all for.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

I didn’t know this game was coming until a few days ago, but the teaser trailer is phenomenal. We have hardly seen anything but a release date and a title. More info is coming in April. Although I am excited, I dislike that Sony keeps losing exclusives. Tomb Raider has been gone for a while, and Crash Bandicoot just left. I just hope this doesn’t happen to all the exclusives. Other than that, I’m really happy to see this one.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Out of all the ones on this list, Black Ops 4 is the one I’m considering not reviewing. I have trouble distinguishing the games from each other stylistically, and I don’t want a rehash of my WWII Review. That being said, I thought the teaser for this one was promising. I will definitely play Black Ops 4, but I’m not sure I’ll do a full review.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I have played very little of Red Dead Redemption, but what I played made me wish I owned the game. Now that the next installment is coming in October, I can finally have the chance to play and finish one of these games. I talked to a lot of people about this Red Dead Redemption 2, and they’re all excited, so I can’t wait to review this one.

Mega Man 11

It’s about time! People have been waiting 8 years for anything new about Mega Man, and now we’re getting a full HD game this holiday season. I also really like the Mega Man redesign. I think It really fits with the modern era of gaming and the idea of him being a “super fighting robot.”  I’m also happy it’s coming to all platforms. Cross platform games are the best!

Super Smash Bros.

If I didn’t review this game, I’d never forgive myself. I mean, it’s Smash Bros. The internet screamed their highest pitched fanboy screams when they heard about this one, and so did I. Who can’t get excited for an HD portable Smash? Although we know nothing about it, and it’s still up in the air on whether it’s a port of the Wii U game or a full sequel, it will be my goal to buy this one on launch day.

Conclusion

Clearly there’s a lot to look forward to this year, especially since I’m the one playing and reviewing these fantastic games. As an honorable mention, I plan to do something in August on E3 covering all the presentations. As for the year, I’m really excited to see what else there’s going to be, coming 2018 or not, and hopefully 2019 will also be packed to the brim.
