Two games two wins: Richardson and Skyline

The Rangers have done it again. Winning against Richardson and Skyline, the Basketball team has excelled in winning vital games for the season. With great success and perseverance, the Rangers won 67-64 against Richardson and 71-46 against Skyline.

Richardson:

Overall, the team was able to exhibit on both occasions, a superb amount of communication and team-work across the board.  The competition was fierce all the way until the end.

Joey Preboy 18′ believed that “the game required fight and unity among the team and we got Reid Hatzmann back as a starter regardless of his hurt condition.”

As stated by Joey, the game was a hard one to pull through as Reid’s impaired condition was one of the missing puzzle pieces for a needed strong victory.

Chris Horton said that the most optimistic detail of the game was when they were able to take the lead after the first quarter. He believed that the “the game was in our hands for the last three quarters they played.”

Reid, although hurt, thought that the team on the court was ” hitting our stride and playing great games. The games are always tough but our good shooting and defense are keeping us on top.”

Skyline:

Skyline was a much easier win and a greater game to show off our team’s potential to shoot and coordinate perfectly. With a score of 71-46, the team had an excellent time to demonstrate great passes, assists, and shots all the way till the end.

Joey, with a steady performance, said that “the guards shot very well. We played together extremely well and we beat Skyline for the first time in 2 years.” Joey felt that this very win showed how much the team had progressed to become a great team. “It was a great win for the team that helped [our team] chemistry.”

Chris felt that the Skyline game was a great hallmark for the team. He believed that the team was “hot” from the three-point line. “We were knocking down shots and lots of stops.” Both games, he believed to be “huge wins for us in district and we want to build on this momentum. [We are] progressing very well.” Reid felt the same way about Skyline, believing that “we have our sights set on finishing district on top.”

Thoughts on the team:

Coach Chris Hill believes that the team has been truly progressing in its ability to communicate and pass the ball effectively.

Joey is hopeful for the next games as Keagan Nwosu and Reid are back from a temporary break to help the team back in its path towards a great successful season. “Everything is falling back into place,” Joey said.

Coach Hill has been proud of their performance and is happy with the good progress everyone is making as the team progresses into the second half of district.

Slight setbacks due to injuries have been “tough on the team” said Hill, but that “the team has focused on bouncing back no matter what. We have something special here and we know it so we won’t let anything get in our way.”  The team will keep improving and learning from its mistakes.

Reid knows that that Coach Hill “is proud of our effort. but is making sure we aren’t content with where we are. We need to keep improving.”

Similarly, Chris said that “the coach has been stressing defense since the beginning of the year and with these two big defensive wins, he has been ecstatic and hopes we keep it going.”

The team will compete against Coppell on Tuesday, January 23, and against J.J. Pierce on Friday, January 26.
