Jesuit Freshman Football slays Skyline

-

Destruction, annihilation, demolition. These 3 words perfectly capture the Jesuit Freshman Football teams’ wins over Skyline on October 6th.

Continuing a strong win streak of 3, the freshman teams refuses to slow down. With the Gold team shutting out Skyline 21-0, and the Blue team destroying 41-0, it seems they will carry out this win streak throughout the rest of the season.

The Gold team focused on “a defensive strategy knowing about Skyline’s good offensive coaching,” commented head coach Bob Wunderlick. “We started out a little slow at the beginning of the game, however by the second quarter we really started performing better. By stressing the importance of defense so that we could get the offense the ball more often, we were able to put up 3 touchdowns. These past couple of weeks of practice we have been focusing on shutting down team’s run games because that is what the majority of plays consist of.”

Clearly the Gold team’s strategy has been working, evident by pulling in that 21-0 win. Similarly the Blue team has been dominating on all fronts.

Coach Wunderlick employed a slightly different strategy for the Blue team.

“For the Blue team, we mostly focused on offense, and it definitely showed in the game against Skyline and the games before that. Our defense has been playing very well on the Blue team, and it allows our strong run game to put up a ton of points. We’ve got a fantastic group of boys this year and they are really playing well across the board. Both teams have been responding very well to our practice and we should continue to see strong performance throughout the upcoming games.”

Overall, in the words of Vince Lombardi, famous player, coach, and recognized Christian, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” The Jesuit Freshman football teams have done a fantastic job so far throughout the season in competing, but more importantly in acting in a Godly manner.

Keep it up Boys!
