JV Lacrosse Shines with Undefeated Season

-

They celebrate their sixth win, continuing their undefeated season with a commanding victory over the strong Prosper team. Their sixth win comes after five consecutive victories, all played in Postell Stadium, except for one. While they have played several tough opponents, their teamwork and skill has not faltered, and their record clearly shows it.

Jesuit’s JV lacrosse team continued their strong season with a victory against Prosper on Tuesday, March 15th, their undefeated season surviving amidst a myriad of  injuries. While their roster may appear short, their teamwork and the skills of all of the athletes outweigh the exhaustion as several players stay on the field the entire game.

Attacker Alec Davis ’18 told The Roundup, “The team has been having a stellar year, going undefeated through six wins and an upcoming game against Coppell. We’d really like to continue our streak of victories.” Davis, just one of the many attackers on the team, complemented his fellow attackers, including Brogan Neagle, ’18, who has contributed several goals to the team’s victories this year. Alec and Brogan’s teamwork along with their teammates’ coordination has led to several high-scoring games, evident in their big wins over Flower Mound and The Woodlands.

Responsible for both defense and attacking, leading scorer midfielder Teddy Wagner, ’18, noted that “Although we’ve had quite a few injuries at every position, everyone has stepped up, especially the defense.” Without the defense’s close protection of their goal, and without the effective attacking by the attackers and midfielders, Jesuit’s season might not be going as well as it is now.

Defenseman Thomas Nolan, ’18, complimented his fellow defenders and their strong-willed perseverance through injuries, with the defenders suffering the most injuries throughout the season. Nolan noted that “While we’ve had several injuries, leaving us to play some games with only four defenders, my teammates have really stepped up and contributed to the team’s success. The offense has really helped to keep the pressure off of our injured defense.” The whole team contributed to the victories, with the offense keeping the pressure on the opponent’s defense and relieving some of the pressure off of the defenders. Even the defenders can contribute to the offense, with Thomas scoring three goals himself this season.

Although the team has been performing very well in the past few games, the rest of the season will not be as easy. The team has more tough games ahead, against teams like Coppell on March 24th, and the Episcopal School of Dallas on April 22nd. Both games will be played in Postell stadium and students are encouraged to attend the games to cheer on their undefeated JV lacrosse team.
