Jesuit Remembers Victims of 9/11 Attacks

-

2,977 red, white, and blue ribbons hang from the black fencing surrounding the newly commemorated Father Postell’s Stadium. Each ribbon represents one of the men, women, and children who died 12 years ago on September 11th.

Athletic Director Mr. Steve Koch and Pam Murad took time out of their busy schedules to create a memorial for the fallen victims and heroes of 9/11. Mr. Koch hopes to leave the memorial up for the Varsity home football game this Friday evening against Houston’s Strake Jesuit. In addition, the prayer before the game will hold a moment of silence for the victims.

“To me, [it] was one of the biggest days in the history of our students’ lives, and a lot of [the students] were too young to remember exactly,” comments Coach Koch. “But I remember it clearly. I believe that things like [this] never need to be forgotten. Hopefully, in future years, when everyone gets here on 9/11, everyone will remember it.”

Our hearts and minds go out to the families and victims of the 9/11 attacks.
