Inaugural Jesuit Texas Hold ‘Em Tourney

-

If you’re looking for a fun way to start off your summer break, or your parents need a night off and are looking to relax, come to Jesuit on June 22nd for the Inaugural Jesuit Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament.

The proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to helping fund the Jesuit Ranger football team’s trip to Dublin, Ireland, this fall. Also benefitting are the Rangerettes and the Jesuit cheerleaders who will be accompanying the team on their trip. “It’s looking up to be a great event that will benefit the team greatly,” says leader Kevin Mullan.

Whether you’ve never played a game in your life, or you happen to be a seasoned poker player, you can attend a short coaching clinic that begins approximately half an hour after the doors open at six o’clock. The actual tournament will begin promptly at seven, with beverages including beer and soft drinks provided along with dinner before the games commence.

The buy-in price for each individual who wishes to attend is one hundred dollars, or a group can purchase a table of seven players for six hundred dollars. Additionally there are multiple sponsorship opportunities available for companies and organizations that want to give an extra donation to the football team.

Surprisingly, the five thousand dollar Gold “Presenting” Sponsorship – which entails an entry for seven at the tournament, recognition pre and post event, company logo in the fall 2012 football program, coverage on the poker web page, and signage at the event – is sold out.

However, Blue and Emerald sponsorships are still available for purchase at twenty-five hundred and one thousand dollars respectively. Mullan states, “We were surprised at how quickly the Gold Sponsorships went, but we surely can’t complain.”

To register for the tournament, go to the Jesuit website and enter “Poker” into the search box. Click the first link to the information about the Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament and scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will see a four-step process that can give more information on pricing and registration.

The football team is looking for more funding for their trip, so if you’re willing to spend a night having fun, eating food, and playing poker, you could really help out the squad as they seek to show the rest of the world what Ranger football is all about.

All you need to do is register online and then be at Jesuit at 6 p. m. on Friday, June 22nd.
