First Step: Beat Sachse

-

Going in to the first-round of the playoffs, the Jesuit football team aims to make a deep run in the 2011 postseason.  The first step towards glory is a meeting with the Sachse High School Mustangs on Friday November 11, 2011, at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.

Sachse, a team that is making its first appearance in UIL playoffs, is coming off an impressive 7-3 season.  Sachse snuck in to the playoffs with the fourth and final 10-5A postseason spot.

Led by senior Quarterback Trent White, who threw for 2,862 yards with 26 touchdowns and 8 interceptions this season, the Mustangs have a fairly efficient offense. However, they didn’t post as big offensive numbers as the Rangers have tallied this season.  With a talented running game powered by Running Back Billy Cole (782 yards, 15 touchdowns), Sachse will be effective both on the ground and in the air.

The Mustang defense allowed an average of 23.4 points a game this season, but the highflying Ranger offense led by head coach Brandon Hickman has scored 40 points or more in all but two games this season.  Don’t look for the Sachse defense to stop senior QB Brian Buell’s offense from scoring.

The Rangers are extremely confident going into the matchup.  After two wonderful practices this week, the preparation will pay off for the team.  “We’ve had great energy at both practices this week,” said Coach Hickman, who is leading the Rangers into the playoffs for the first time. “We’ve rented two charter buses to go out and beat Sachse in style,” added Hickman with a grin.

Expect a great night of Texas high school football in Mesquite this Friday, where both teams will battle on the gridiron for the chance to turn their season into something great.  The Rangers hope to bring home a big win and continue a deep run in the 5A-II Playoffs. Come out and support your Rangers football team!
