Jesuit Falters against Lake Highlands on Homecoming Night

-

Junior RB DeVonte Sunwenghan ran for 192 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries and caught 12 passes for 133 yards as Lake Highlands defeated Jesuit 29-20 on the opening of Jesuit’s new Stadium. Sunwenghan accounted for 325 of Lake Highlands’ 444 total yards as they picked up 28 first downs and ran for 220 yards as a team. Sophomore WR Jake Oliver caught ten passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and Senior QB Mike Savage passed for three touchdowns for Jesuit. However, their collective efforts went unnoticed as Lake Highlands kept the Jesuit offense off the field with their highly effective rushing attack. “We really did execute well on offense. We just couldn’t stop their running backs,” says Senior Elliot Schermerhorn. At times, Jesuit also seemed to hurt themselves on their homecoming night, committing 12 penalties for 95 yards and ultimately giving the ball back to the time eating Lake Highlands offense. Jesuit will look to rebound against Samuel at Forester Stadium.
