This spring, the Jesuit Ranger swim team looks to continue their success from the first half of the season and finish the second half year strong. Jesuit’s natators are led by 12 seniors, senior captain Colin Taylor, assistant coach Seth Waits, and head coach B. J. Antes. “The swim team is doing very well,” said Coach Waits, who is in...
The varsity swimmer gives his teammate a playful slap on the back before climbing onto the block and taking his mark. He readies himself and flies into the water after the starting sound. His teammates and coaches scream encouragement as he glides through the water. On November 2nd, Jesuit Swim competed in a duel meet against Highland Park, a top-ranked...
Head to head, the swimmers of the 200 Medley Relay team surge forward as fast as they can, attempting to beat out their competition. Stepping up behind the blocks, the swimmer removes his mask, pulls on his cap, and tightens his goggles. The whistle sounds, queuing the team and signaling the swimmer to step up. His legs twitching, he places his feet on the rough surface and locks his eyes on the rippling water. The official announces: "take your mark," the swimmer's hands...
Glancing nervously at his opponents climbing onto the starting blocks, the swimmer secures his goggles and takes a ready stance. The piercing whistle propels him into the water, and his muscle memory takes over, his smooth strokes carrying him to victory. The Jesuit Swim teams, both varsity and JV, have been very busy, competing in three meets in the last...
