Jerome John McGinnis, USMC ‘43, is the first alumnus to die for his country in the Battle of Iwo Jima. 44 alums serve in the Armed Services. Addition: On April 15, 1948, a Rosary service was held after his body was brought back for a reburial service. The 1948 graduates and 1943 graduates were invited to attend.
