Despite an unfortunate defeat against our tollway rival, Highland Park, the Jesuit Rangers demonstrated their mettle against fellow Jesuit school, Jesuit New Orleans the week prior. Returning to this strong performance, the team showed up against Irving and dominated on the field. Achieving a significant win of 49-20, Jesuit has shown itself a contender to be reckoned with in our district. Hopes are high for the remainder of district play and it appears like the Rangers should come out on top against JJ Pearce.
This matchup demonstrated the holistic strength of our team, with standout performances from both the offense and defense. Although, with a total of seven touchdowns, the offense really stole the show.

Offensive Performance
Quarterback Charlie Peters ’25 threw for three touchdowns, with a total yardage of 176 yards from nine completed passes; notably, Peters rushed two touchdowns for a total of 23 yards. Will Naughton ’25 completed eight passes for 83 yards and a combined Jesuit passing yardage of 259 yards. In a similarly profound show, Wide Receiver Jaeger Krauss ’25 caught five passes, resulting in two touchdowns for the Rangers. Other noteworthy moments from the matchup include Harlan Beucler ’26, with a 79-yard reception for a touchdown and Jud Harris ’26, who in his debut for the Varsity side, scored a touchdown. Both plays energized the student section who revelled in the decisive win.

Defensive Performance
Imitating the dominating performance of the offense, Defensive Back Merritt Johnson ’25 made a stunning 50-yard interception return for a touchdown alongside seven tackles. The rest of the defense performed in the same spirit holding their ground: Robert Prager ’25 set the bar with nine tackles, Julien Bird ’25 with eight, Gabriel James ’26 with seven, Parker Sherman ’26 with six and Cade Gill ’25 with five. The defense locked down the field, allowing only four third down conversions out of 13, keeping possession for two-thirds of the game.
