Dinner, Dancing, and…Hacky Sacks?

-

On April 18th, 2026, Jesuit Dallas hosted its annual prom dance for the students. The event was held at the Dallas Grand Trade Mart Pavillion in downtown Dallas. Fun times were had by all and memories were made.

Start & Dinner

As students entered through the trade center’s entrance, they were greeted by numerous faculty and staff. Among the staff included Mrs. Patricia Gerber, Mr. Richard Joubert SJ, and Head Swimming Coach Doug Moyse. Other faculty were scattered throughout the venue, making sure the students stayed safe. After students socialized until about 8:00 PM, Dr. Mark Knize opened the event with a prayer. Immediately following prayer, students were dismissed by section to a buffet-style dinner. The menu for the night included chicken, mac-n-cheese, and assorted vegetables. Tea, lemonade, and desserts were available on certain tables

“It was one community, for one NIGHT, HAVING the oppurtunity to celebrate our blessings together and show one another gratitude for this school year” -Dr. Mark Knize

Dancing Queens (and Kings)

After about an hour, the administration opened the dancefloor. There were many moments that highlighted the pinnacle of partying. Cade Kirby ’26, Kevin Nazareth ’26, and Sebastian Suwanda ’26 could be found busting a move on the floor. Other groups of students could be found playing with a hacky sack, something that has emerged in popularity around campus.

Dance circles were among the highlights of the night. Multiple dance circles emerged throughout the night. Songs that these groups of students danced to included “Hotel Room” by Pitbull, “Baby” by Justin Bieber, and “Low” by Flo Rida. Girls from Ursuline Academy took many videos, showing the boys dancing their hearts out. Within the circle the gentlemen, dressed to a tee in their tuxedos, performed many iconic dance moves such as “the fisherman” and the “the worm.”

A couple of highlights from the evening came when couples and groups banded together. The first was the slow dance. Couples shared a sweet moment while all the singles in the room held hands, swaying back and forth. The second came when the DJ announced the song “Flex” by Cupid. All of the girls on the dance floor gathered in the middle, performing the line dance to the song which has been trending on Tiktok and Instagram. The evening wrapped up around 10 PM, with students departing on busses and in cars for their respective afterparties.
