Celebrating Jesuit’s Past and Future: Jesuit Community Gathers for Sons of Alumni Breakfast

The Event

After arriving in the Terry Center, attendees feasted on a delicious meal of breakfast tacos, eggs, fruit, and more. The gathering space had been converted into a banquet hall with tables for groups of Jesuit alumni and their sons attending Jesuit. Families were able to engage in discussions about their experiences attending Jesuit and how it has changed throughout the years to the present day. On top of this, guests were able to listen to speeches being given as well as the presentation of an award to an alum who had made a significant impact on the Jesuit community including one given by Chris Cook ’86. This emphasized the importance of giving back to the Jesuit even after graduation during the event.

The Experience

One of the father-son pairs in attendance at the breakfast was Levi Anderson ’28 and his father Brennen Anderson ’06. Levi reflected about how amazing it was to interact with his friends and their fathers who had attended Jesuit and how interesting it was to speak with someone who had been in his same position, a student of Jesuit Dallas. He also found it fascinating that even those who may have not been the most popular or academically successful while going to school at Jesuit were still making profound impacts on Jesuit. What resonated with Levi in particular after the event was the importance of acknowledging how everyone at Jesuit struggles to ensure that every student possesses what they need for success.

“”We get into jesuit, and we start to kind of take …the magnitude of what [the staff and faculty of jesuit] put into it for granted, but…all the teachers here, they want us to succeed.”

– Levi anderson ’28

The Takeaway

Even for alumni that do not have children currently enrolled into Jesuit, the Sons of Alumni Breakfast serves as a representation of how all graduates should treat Jesuit with respect and gratitude.
