My Pick: Patrick Mahomes (QB)

Patrick Mahomes has had an MVP season this year. He leads the NFL in passing by a massive merge with 5,250 yards. The next player is Justin Herbert at 4,739 yards. Patrick also leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 41 and QBR at 77.6. He has also rushed for a season-high of 4 touchdowns and 358 rushing yards. Apart from all these stats, what gives him the edge is that he has to lead the Chiefs to a number one seed in a competitive AFC.

Defensive Player of the Year

(Nick Bosa profile – ESPN)

My Pick: Nick Bosa (EGDE)

The DPOY this year was a competitive race between many great defensive players. Still, Nick Bosa just edged out all the competition. He leads the league in sacks with 18.5 and has two force fumbles. But just like Patrick Mahomes, his team record pushes him above the rest, with the 49ers having the second-best record in NFC. This was done with a QB drafted last in his class, and much of this success can be a credit to Nick Bosa and the 49er’s dominant defense.

Offensive Player of the Year

(Justin Jefferson profile – ESPN)

My Pick: Justin Jefferson (WR)

Justin Jefferson has been balling all season long and has proven this season that he is the best wide receiver in the game right now. He has 1,809 receiving yards this season, the most in the league and the 6th most ever in a season. He has the most reception in his season at 128, he ranks 20th for average yards at 14.1 (which is like getting a first down every time he catches a ball), and 11th in a touchdown with 8.

Rookie Offense Player of the Year

(Kenneth Walker III profile – ESPN)

My pick: Kenneth Walker III (RB)

Kenneth Walker edges out Garrett Wilson (WR) for one reason his team, the Seahawks are in the playoffs, and Garrett’s Jets are not. Kenneth Walker has 1,050 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season. He also has 165 yards of receiving, which gives him a total offense of 1,215 yards, beating out Garrett Wilson.

Rookie Defense Player of the Year

(Sauce Gardner profile – ESPN)

My pick: Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner (CB)

Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner is the favorite to win the Rookie Defense Player of the Year. This year, he has recorded two interceptions with 51 solo tackles and 24 assists. He has been a great addition to the Jet’s defense and a lockdown player all season long. 

Comeback Player of the Year

(Geno Smith profile – ESPN)

My Pick: Geno Smith (QB)

This award was the closest race, with Geno Smith and Christian McCaffrey (RB), but Geno Smith won. He has the 8th most passing yards at 4,282 yards, the 4th most touchdowns at 30, and the 6th best QBR at 61.1. What puts him above McCaffrey is the fact that he took a Seahawks team that was predicted to do poorly, led them to a winning record, and made the playoffs. Geno Smith is not seen as a good player, so for him to put up stats like these and be a top-10 QB is very surprising. That gives him the edge over Christian McCaffrey, an already-proven running back.

Coach of the Year

(Nick Sirianni profile – Philadelphia Eagles website)

My pick: Nick Sirianni

Nick Sirianni took the Philadelphia Eagles from a good team to an unstoppable team, with him going on an eight-game winning streak to start the season. His Eagles tie the Chiefs for the best record in the NFL at 14-3 and lead the Eagles to a 1st seed. The Eagles currently have the 3rd best offense and the 8th best defense. They lead the league in sacks at 70, 3rd in turnovers, 5th in rushing, and 9th in passing. With all these factors in play, it makes Nick an obvious choice for the award.
