During the week of January 15th to January 21th, Jesuit JV Gold Basketball played two games, losing their first and winning the second game of the week. After a tough loss to Richardson that came down to the last play, the Rangers recovered later that week by defeating Skyline on Friday, January 20.
On Tuesday January 17, the JV Gold Basketball team lost a nail-biter against Richardson with a final score of 54-55. Although the high-powered offense continued its streak of high-scoring games, the defense fell short and could not hold Richardson.
However, just days later on Friday, January 20th, the team bounced back, defeating Skyline, whose Varsity team is ranked 5th in the state. The Rangers overran their opponent, defeating Skyline 52-45. When asked about the victory and the previous loss to Richardson, Christopher Horton ’18 noted that “we didn’t play as a team against Richardson so we weren’t able to pull out the win in the end. But, we were able to bounce back with a big win against Skyline. I was really happy with how the team came together and really competed as one team, which really helped us to win against the Raiders.” This victory gave Jesuit their 17th win, making the record 17-3.
Jesuit will once again face off with these two teams in the final two games of the season. On February 10th, Jesuit will certainly be looking for revenge against Richardson to redeem themselves after the disappointing loss. Also, the blue and gold must prepare to face the Skyline Raiders at Skyline’s home gym, which will certainly be a tough game with the atmosphere. Stay tuned for more Ranger Basketball coverage!
