Junior Jake Oliver and Senior Brian Wetzel combined for 249 receiving yards and 4 total touchdowns as Jesuit scored 28 points in the first quarter to outscore Richardson Berkner 52-29.
Senior QB Mike Savage completed 73% of his passes for 3 touchdowns and ran for another score as Jesuit remained undefeated in district play heading into a showdown with Skyline. Brian Wetzel set
the tone with his arm instead of his hands in the first offensive series, throwing a 43 yard pass on an end around to Jake Oliver for the first points of the game. “I think Wetzel’s pass at the beginning of the game riled the team up,” remarked Senior OL Andy Sample. “We didn’t want to lose a game that we started off with a bang.” RB Yedidiah Louis ran for 55 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns as he tried to bring back Berkner from a 31-14 deficit at halftime. Wetzel and Oliver, however, both caught scoring passes from Savage in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for Berkner.
Jesuit brings their first winning streak of the season to Forester Stadium to face Skyline. Skyline also comes on a three game winning streak of their own and boasts one of the top defensive recruits in the nation— MLB Anthony Wallace, who will test the Jesuit high powered offense that has scored 114 points in the last two games.
