The game started at 7:00 PM and I was twenty minutes late due to traffic. By the time I entered the stadium the score was 35-0 in Jesuit’s favor. Senior Mike Savage completed 11 of 12 passes for 284 yards and six touchdowns– all in the first half–as he led the Rangers to a 62-15 demolition of W.T. White. Sophomore Jake Oliver and Senior Brian Wetzel combined for 246 yards receiving and six touchdowns as Jesuit never looked back from the beginning of the game, ending the first quarter with a 42-0 lead. By the middle of the second quarter, almost all Jesuit starters were benched as they watched the backups run around W.T. White as well. Backup Junior QB Brian Buell had his best game of the season in relief of Savage, completing all twelve of his passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. “We were unstoppable,” said Senior kicker Elliott Schermerhorn who also saw extended time on kickoff duties and almost made a 42 yard field goal at the end of the third quarter. Senior QB David McKenzie rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on sixteen carries but was wildly ineffective as he only completed 57 percent of his passes and was intercepted once. Jesuit will now direct their attention to Richardson Berkner next Friday. This is the supposed first home game of the season for Jesuit, however, with the lagging development of the field, it seems unlikely.
