Jesuit Football Season Ends in Playoff Loss to Denton-Guyer

On Friday, November 21, the Jesuit Rangers faced the Denton Guyer Wildcats at Joy and Ralph Ellis stadium in the second round of the UIL Texas Football Playoffs, conference 6A D2, losing 44 to 14.The Rangers end the season with a 6-6 record.

Offense

Denton-Guyer was able to keep the offense in check holding the Rangers to 234 yards of offense. Beck Berry ’26 passed for 175 yards and a touchdown. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 26 yards. Shane Parker ’26 also added 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Cade Kirby ’26 was a bright spot in the receiving game hauling in 9 receptions for 128 yards. Max Smith ’27 brought in the other touchdown of the night and an additional 34 yards of offense. Kicker Cooper McGough ’26 went 2/2 on extra point attempts.

Defense

Cole Johnson ’27 led the way for the defense leading the team in tackles with 9 including 1.5 tackles for loss. Fellow d lineman Tanner Krug ’26 had 4 total tackles including the only sack for the Rangers. In the linebacker core, Cole Wombacher ’26 had 8 tackles with fellow seniors Gabriel James ’26 and Joe Norman ’26 notching 5 and 6 tackles respectively. For the defensive backs it was Cabe Weissmueller ’26 with 6 tackles, Mack Murphy ’27 with 5 tackles and Andres Vann ’27 with 4 including a tackle for a loss.

Final Thoughts

While the season end is disappointing for the Rangers, the team fought hard all season and fought through adversity. The Rangers will now look forward to next season!
