On Thursday, November 13, Jesuit Dallas celebrated eight student-athletes who signed to compete at the collegiate level. The signing took place in the Terry Center, where Jesuit leadership, coaches, family, and friends gathered to support the student-athletes. Representing their new college with their gear, these eight seniors marked an exciting and memorable moment in their athletic careers. This milestone reflects years of hard work, dedication, and balance between sports and academics, true hallmarks of the Profile of the Graduate.

Ceremony
Upon entering the Terry Center, you could feel the excitement from an audience of proud spectators and tables adorned with branded college decor, balloons, and memorable photos of each signing athlete. Opening the ceremony was Athletic Director Kyle Herrema, delivering a congratulatory speech for this monumental event.
“We are incredibly proud of this group. Although they compete in different sports, they share the same qualities that brought them to this moment: discipline, resilience, a love for their sport, and the ability to balance academics and athletics. They carry themselves with integrity and represent Jesuit with character. Each of them is ready for the challenge of collegiate athletics, and we are excited to see what they accomplish next.” – Athletic Director Mr. Herrema
One by one, each athlete was called forward to sit at the signing table and put pen to paper, guaranteeing their official commitment. Shortly afterwards, family and coaches gathered for group photos. A nice assortment of pastries was provided by Thomas Cuisine as people mingled throughout the Terry Center for the reception.

Final Thoughts
According to NCAA statistics, only 7% of high school athletes go onto compete in collegiate athletics, including NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and junior colleges. So, next time you see one of these athletes in the hallway, be sure to congratulate them for their accomplishment and follow active competing alumni on the board next to Walsh Gym.
