Highlights
1-Meter Diving
The Rangers were able to capture four of the top five spots in this event, going 1-2-3-5. Winning the event was Koby Broad ’28 with a score of 147.15, not far off of his personal best. Coming in second and third were Kobus Brewton ’28 and Wills Blosser ’26 with scores of 131.78 and 113.70, respectively. Rounding out the divers was Koen Mathys ’27 with a score of 90.00, taking fifth place overall.
200 Medley Relay
Kicking off the swimming portion of the meet, the Rangers charged for the win in this event, the “A” relay of Jonah Ruhl ’27 (Backstroke), Grant Wilton ’27 (Breaststroke), Luke Lary ’26 (Butterfly), and Sam Kennington ’26 (Freestyle) coming in with a time of 1:40.41. In a close race for second were Allen’s “A” relay and Jesuit’s “B” relay of JP McCosker ’27 (Backstroke), Porter Pope ’28 (Breaststroke), Drew Shippey ’27 (Butterfly), and Jackson Addison-Jordan ’26 (Freestyle), the silver going to Allen and the bronze going to Jesuit; the Rangers’ “B” relay was able to clock in at a time of 1:45.95. Additionally, Jesuit’s “C” relay of Peter Hasik ’27 (Backstroke), Michael Sanmiguel ’27 (Breaststroke), Ian Reichert ’29 (Butterfly), and Michael Tobin ’27 (Freestyle) was able to finish seventh with a time of 1:52.63.
200 Individual Medley
This event ended in victory for Jonah Ruhl, winning the event by a large margin of roughly nine seconds with a time of 1:58.09. Following Ruhl was an intense race for second between Drew Shippey and two Allen swimmers, the silver going to Shippey due to a last-minute surge at the very end of his race. Closing it out for the Rangers was George Weaver ’26 with a time of 2:20.70, placing seventh in the event.
500 Freestyle
Although this was the only event that the Rangers were not able to win at this meet, they made up for the loss with a 2-3-4 finish by Rangers Sebastian Suwanda, JP McCosker, and Grant Wilton. Coming in first was an Allen swimmer, and in second, Suwanda finished with a time of 5:02.62. In third was McCosker with a time of 5:07.88, a major drop of over ten seconds from the 500 Freestyle that he swam back in September. Wilton was able to finish right behind McCosker in fourth with time of 5:08.31.
200 Freestyle Relay
Jesuit was able to pick up first, third, and sixth place standings in this event. Jesuit’s “A” relay of Jackson Addison-Jordan, Drew Shippey, Michael Tobin, and Sebastian Suwanda finished in first with a time of 1:33.51. In second was Allen’s “A” relay, then in third was Jesuit’s “B” relay of Porter Pope, JP McCosker, Peter Hasik, and Javi Ruiz ’28 with a time of 1:36.42. Rounding out the Rangers was the “C” relay of Michael Sanmiguel, Grant Wilton, Noah Ruhl ’28, and William Hutchins ’27, finishing sixth with a time of 1:40.72.
100 Backstroke
Jesuit was able to take the “W” in this event, Jonah Ruhl finishing first with a time of 54.01. For the other two Rangers entered into this event, Peter Hasik finished seventh with a time of 1:01.55, only a second and a half off of the swimmers who finished 4-6 in front of him. Michael Tobin capped off the Rangers’ 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:05.82.
Looking Ahead
After this next week of Homecoming, the Rangers return to the Gull to take on Coppell on October 28. Following this meet is a plethora of meets: the Jesuit/Ursuline Blue vs. Red Intrasquad on November 4, Jesuit/Ursuline vs. St. Mark’s/Hockaday on November 13, and the highly competitive North Zone TISCA Invitational meet on November 21 and 22.
