Thus far, the Jesuit Dallas tennis team has put on a tremendous performance throughout the Fall Season. With the addition of 11 new freshmen, as well as the return of a few notable upperclassmen, the Jesuit tennis team has amassed an impressive seven wins and one loss.
Match Against Irving – August 20
Jesuit began the season with a convincing 4–0 win over Irving, marking a confident start to the fall campaign.
Singles Performances:
Xavier Horler ’28 led the team with a dominant (8–0) win. Branch Dallman ’27 followed with an (8–4) victory, while Charlie Kennington ’28 closed out singles play decisively (8–1).
Doubles Performances:
Horler and Kennington paired up for an (8–3) win, securing the sweep and setting a strong early tone for Jesuit’s season.
Match Against J.J. Pearce – August 26
Jesuit pulled out a close 13–11 victory over J.J. Pearce in a competitive matchup that featured several decisive third-set tiebreaks and strong performances throughout the lineup. Carson Voegtle ’26 explained the impact of this win:
“Beating a hard opponent like Pearce was a great way to advance our win record in the season and it gave us a confidence boost going into our Lake Highlands match.”
Doubles Performances:
Mathis Valenta ’26 and Ben Park ’29 earned a convincing (6–2, 6–1) win to start the match. William Wayne ’26 and Mark Scucchi ’27 followed with a comeback victory (4–6, 6–2, 1–0 [7]), while Xavier Horler and Jack Hardy ’27 fell just short (4–6, 6–4, 0–1 [9]). Augustus Chu ’28 and William Bjorck ’29 dropped a tight match (6–1, 6–7 [3], 0–1 [9]), but Carson Voegtle and Branch Dallman secured an efficient (4–0, 4–2) win. Rounding out doubles, Reid McCord ’29 and Henry Reinhart ’29 lost (5–3, 1–4, 0–1 [7]), and Braden Cannon ’29 with Warner Stone ’29 fell (0–4, 2–4).
Singles Performances:
Valenta continued his strong play with a (6–2, 6–1) win, and Park followed with a dominant (6–0, 6–2) performance. Wayne dropped his match (3–6, 2–6), while Scucchi captured a straight-set win (6–4, 6–4). Horler fell in a close tiebreak (6–4, 2–6, 0–1 [3]), but Hardy battled through for a clutch win (6–2, 6–7, 1–0 [3]). Chu completed another comeback victory (5–7, 6–1, 1–0 [1]), and Bjorck led a commanding (8–2) win. Voegtle (8–3), Dallman (8–2), and Thomas Czuppon ’26 (8–1) each added decisive pro-set victories. McCord (6–8), Reinhart (4–8), Cannon (6–8), Asher McNamara ’28 (4–8), and Stone (7–9) rounded out the lineup in competitive losses.

Match Against Lake Highlands – September 2
Jesuit extended its unbeaten streak with a commanding 14–4 win over Lake Highlands, dominating across both singles and doubles play. Van Davidson ’28 expressed his contentment with the win, saying:
“It’s an absolutely amazing feeling to beat a rival that badly. Always feels great.”
Doubles Performances:
The duo of Mathis Valenta and Van Davidson set the tone with an (8–3) victory. Xavier Horler and Augustus Chu followed with an (8–5) win, while Carson Voegtle and Branch Dallman added another doubles point with an identical (8–5) result. William Wayne and Ben Park fell (5–8), as did Mark Scucchi and Jack Hardy (5–8) and Luke Nettune ’26 with William Bjorck (3–8).
Singles Performances:
Jesuit swept all twelve singles courts. Valenta won (6–0, 6–0) and Davidson followed with a (6–4, 6–0) victory. Park and Wayne each claimed (6–1, 6–3) wins, while Scucchi added a (6–2, 6–0) result, and Hardy earned a close (7–5, 7–5) win. Horler edged out his opponent in a tiebreak (8–7 [7–4]), and Bjorck won decisively (8–0). Chu finished strong with an (8–2) win, followed by Nettune (8–4), Voegtle (8–2), and Dallman (8–3) to complete the sweep.
Match Against MacArthur – September 9
Jesuit rolled past Richardson 15–2, sweeping all six doubles courts and adding nine more wins in singles.
Doubles Performances:
Jesuit swept doubles play, with Xavier Horler and Augustus Chu winning (8–2), followed by Branch Dallman and Charlie Kennington (8–3). The teams of Reid McCord and William Bjorck (8–1), Henry Reinhart and Braden Cannon (8–2), Warner Stone and Rhyder Fossez ’29 (8–1), and Hank Simons ’29 with Beck Song ’29 (8–2) all added convincing victories.
Singles Performances:
Horler opened singles with a (7–5, 6–0) win, and Bjorck followed with a (6–4, 6–0) result. Chu earned a dominant (6–0, 6–1) victory, while McCord added another straight-set win (6–2, 6–0). Kennington prevailed (6–2, 6–3), and Reinhart battled through for a (7–5, 6–3) win. Rhyder Fossez (4–1, 4–0), Hank Simons (4–1, 4–3 [2]), and Warner Stone (4–1, 4–1) all contributed strong pro-set victories. Braden Cannon (3–4 [6], 3–4 [6]) and Beck Song (2–4, 0–4) dropped close matches to close out the day.

Match Against Richardson – September 18
Jesuit locked in with a 13–5 win over Richardson, taking four of six in doubles and nine of twelve in singles, punctuated by multiple deciding tiebreaks. Senior Luke Nettune commented on the win saying:
“I think the Richardson match really measured our strength as a team because while they were strong, we were stronger and dominated. All our hard work as a team paid off.”
Doubles Performances:
William Wayne and Ben Park controlled their court 8–3, Van Davidson and Mark Scucchi followed 8–2, Xavier Horler and Augustus Chu pulled through with a close 8–6, and Reid McCord and Henry Reinhart added 8–3. Richardson answered on two lines as Luke Nettune and Jack Hardy fell 3–8, and Branch Dallman and Charlie Kennington dropped a close tiebreak 7–8 (2).
Singles Performances:
Van Davidson won 6–0, 6–2, Ben Park 6–0, 6–3, Mark Scucchi 6–4, 7–5, and Jack Hardy 6–2, 6–1, while Augustus Chu flipped his match in a super tiebreak 3–6, 6–2, 1–0 (14–12). Down the order, Luke Nettune closed 4–2, 4–3 (5), Reid McCord 4–1, 4–0, Charlie Kennington 4–1, 4–1, and Henry Reinhart rallied 1–4, 4–2, 1–0 (7). Richardson claimed three courts—William Wayne 4–6, 3–6, Xavier Horler 3–4 (5), 4–2, 0–1 (3), and Alex Alphonso ’26 0–6, 0–6—but Jesuit’s early doubles cushion and depth in singles carried the day.
Match Against Berkner – September 23
Jesuit topped Berkner 6–3, taking two of three in doubles before closing out four of six in singles. This result pushed Jesuit to a 6-0 record, furthering the undefeated season.
Doubles Performances:
Mark Scucchi and Jack Hardy dropped a tight 5–8, but Augustus Chu and Xavier Horler answered 8–2, and Branch Dallman and Charlie Kennington finished it off with an 8–0 win to give Jesuit a 2–1 lead.
Singles Performances:
Mark Scucchi opened with 6–3, 6–1 before Augustus Chu fell 5–7, 0–6 and Jack Hardy conceded by walkover. From there, Jesuit swept the remaining courts: Xavier Horler 6–1, 6–0, Branch Dallman 6–1, 6–1, and Charlie Kennington 6–1, 6–2, sealing a solid team victory over the Berkner Rams.
Match Against Nimitz – September 30
Jesuit cruised past Nimitz 12–1, sweeping all four doubles courts before piling on eight more wins in singles.
Doubles Performances:
Jesuit set the tone early: Reid McCord and Henry Reinhart opened 8–2, Rhyder Fossez and Warner Stone followed with a shutout 8–0, William Czuppon and Braden Cannon added 8–4, and Adam Jensen ’29 and Beck Song sealed the sweep 8–5.
Singles Performances:
The momentum carried over as McCord won 8–1, Reinhart 8–3, Fossez 8–0, Czuppon 8–3, and Cannon 8–2. Asher McNamara added 8–2, Hank Simons delivered another bagel 8–0, and Beck Song closed the day 8–6; the only loss came on Warner Stone’s court, 6–8.

Match Against Strake Jesuit – October 2-3
On October 2, Jesuit Dallas travelled down to Houston to compete against Strake Jesuit. Strake Jesuit handed Jesuit a tough 0–12 result (sweeping all four doubles courts and all eight singles) to end Jesuit’s seven match win streak. Freshman Ben Park offered the following insight over the matchup:
“It was an amazing atmosphere and a super fun trip despite losing. It’s disappointing knowing we didn’t have our top player to help us bring it home, but this loss will only drive us forward moving into the spring season.”
Doubles Performances:
Strake took an early lead with wins over Park/Davidson (3–8), Wayne/Scucchi (5–8), Chu/Horler (3–8), and Voegtle/Hardy (1–8).
Singles Performances:
Strake completed the sweep in singles: Van Davidson (2–6, 5–7), Ben Park (2–6, 1–6), Mark Scucchi (0–6, 1–6), William Wayne (1–6, 2–6), Xavier Horler (5–7, 1–6), Augustus Chu (0–6, 1–6), Jack Hardy (1–8), and Carson Voegtle (2–6, 1–6). Jesuit pressed on the top courts—Davidson and Horler each pushed a set to 5–7—but Strake closed out every line to seal the sweep.
Looking Forward to the Spring Season
As the fall season comes to an end, the Jesuit Rangers will continue to train in anticipation for a similarly strong performance in the spring season. With the 6A State Championships in May and invitational tournaments and match-play spread out throughout the spring, the Rangers hope to sustain the momentum that they found in the fall.
