Swimming & Diving Makes Season Debut by Dominating Bishop Lynch

Jesuit Swimming and Diving is coming off of its most successful season in a while. The 2024-2025 season resulted in an undefeated eight-win season. In addition, the Rangers claimed back-to-back District titles and its first Regional title since 2012. Jesuit carried its success into this year, beginning the 2025-2026 season with a 152-21 win over Bishop Lynch. The meet, held September 11 at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center, featured all levels of swimmers, from State qualifiers to first-time freshmen.

Highlights

50 Freestyle – Jesuit took the four of the top five spots in this event. A trio of seniors took the podium. Sam Kennington ’26, one of the returning State qualifiers, won the event in a time of 21.61. Fellow senior Luke Lary ’26 came in second with a time of 22.55. Coming in third place was Jackson Addison-Jordan ’26. Rounding out the top five was Charlie Plummer ’28.

100 Butterfly – Four Rangers notched impressive swims in this event. Senior Luke Lary, who qualified for State in this event last year, took the top spot with a 51.99. Drew Shippey ’27 (53.19) and Sam Kennington (55.16) took second and third, respectively. Javi Ruiz ’28 rounded up the Rangers’ finishers with a time of 59.78.

200 Freestyle Relay – Two of Jesuit’s relays duked it out for the top spot. The “A” Relay featuring Kennington (22.58), Plummer (24.58), JP McCosker ’27 (24.87), and Sebastian Suwanda ’26 (21.71) put forth a valiant effort, totaling a time of 1:33.74. However, the win would go to the “B” Relay. Luke Lary led off in a 22.74. Michael Tobin ’27 went second with a split of 23.98. Porter Pope ’28 went third with a split of 23.50. Jackson Addison-Jordan anchored the relay with a split of 23.34, fending off a late comeback by Sebastian Suwanda.

100 Breaststroke – Jesuit will be returning three of the four Regional qualifiers from last year in this event, the notable loss being Oliver Miller ’25. Grant Wilton ’27 won the event in a time of 1:04.18. Porter Pope finished second with a time of 1:08.04. Freshman Michael Zhang ’29 continued an impressive debut with a third-place finish, clocking a 1:10.63. Michael Sanmiguel ’27 rounded out Jesuit’s finishers with a time of 1:12.10.

Looking Ahead

The Blue & Gold face a tough schedule ahead. Jesuit will welcome a number of teams to the Gull on September 27 for its annual Ranger Relays. After that, the Rangers will have an away tri-meet against Allen and Lovejoy on October 14. Jesuit will close the month of October with a duel against regional rival Coppell at home on October 28.
