On the night of August 29th, Jesuit kicked off their football season with an away game at Hebron and suffered a tough loss, 31-3.

Game Summary
Jesuit trailed early due to a 54 yard touchdown pass from Hebron’s QB, Brady Brock, to Drew Koster. However, the Jesuit road crowd stayed engaged and loud. Responding to the touchdown, senior Cooper McGough was able to kick a 33 yard field goal to make it 7-3 before Hebron battled back with a 15 yard rushing touchdown from Ayson McCray Jones with two minutes left in the first. Hebron continued to add to their lead with a 1 yard run from Brady Brock with two minutes left in the second quarter to make it 21-3 Hebron at half. In the second half, Jesuit could not form a comeback and Hebron ran away with the game, scoring one more rushing touchdown and kicking a 44 yard field goal to make the final 31-3 Hebron.

Stats vs Hebron
Defensively, Jesuit did not force any turnovers. Nevertheless, senior linebacker Cole Wombacher led the team in tackles with 12 (4 solo and 8 assisted), had an assisted tackle for a loss, and had a pass breakup. The Jesuit defense accumulated 2 sacks, 1.5 from senior Joe Norman and .5 from junior Dean Gafford.

Offensively, Jesuit had 266 yards of offense compared to Hebron’s 410 yards of offense. Senior starting QB Beck Berry had a decent night going 22-38 (57% completion rate) with 0 touchdowns and 1 interception which happened in the 2nd quarter. Beck also used his legs to gain 16 rushing yards on the ground on five attempts. In the third quarter, sophomore JP Livingstone came in and went 1-5 (20% completion rate) with 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. On the receiving side, senior Shane Parker led the team with 72 receiving yards on 9 receptions with senior Caeden Profitt earning 67 receiving yards right behind him. On the ground, senior Lucas Mayer led the team with 29 rushing yards with Shane Parker’s 21 rushing yards coming in close second.

Though it was a tough loss, this Jesuit team still has talent and will be back for the home opener vs Jesuit New Orleans.
