After a brief period of scrimmages to start the 2026 baseball season for Jesuit, the team traveled to Weatherford, Aledo, and Midlothian, Texas to kick off their season with the Weatherford Invitational.
Weatherford
Jesuit played Weatherford for the first game of the season in Weatherford where they suffered their first loss in a tight shootout 5-7. Taylor Haddock ’26 had a great game for Jesuit going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s. James Jorgensen ’26 joined Taylor on the stat sheet with a 2-3 day with one RBI. The two other RBI’s came from Braxton Barber ’26 and Roman Derichsweiler ’27.
Arlington Martin
Jesuit earned their first win of the baseball season with a 10-3 victory over Arlington Martin. Davis Montgomery ’27 had a big game for Jesuit going 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Cole Johnson ’27 and Roman Derichsweiler both added to Jesuit’s runs through two RBI doubles. The other contributors to Jesuit’s scoring are Braxton Barber with a RBI triple, Alex Barr ’26 with a RBI double, and Taylor Haddock ’26 with an RBI single. The pitching from Jesuit did well too. Sebastian Lasa ’26 only gave up two hits on four strikeouts in five innings and Levi Secker ’27 gave up one hit no runs in two innings.

Denton Guyer
Jesuit suffered another close loss to Denton Guyer 5-6. Brooks Kowal’ 26 hit the first home run of the Jesuit Baseball season which accounted for two runs and Davis Montgomery and Nate Iannariello ’28 accounted for two more through RBI singles. The other run came from a wild pitch where Braxton Barber scored. Griffin Civello ’27 had a great game on the mound pitching two innings and only allowed two hits, two strikeouts, one walk and zero runs.
Aledo
After a great pitching from both sides, Jesuit fell to number five in the state, losing 1-2. James Jorgensen threw a gem for Jesuit going three innings allowing zero runs, one hit, and striking out six. Alex Barr had the sole run for Jesuit after a RBI single in the first. Roman Derichsweiler also had a nice day at the plate going 2-3 with two singles.
Mansfield Legacy
In their second to last game of the Weatherford Invitational, Jesuit fell to Mansfield Legacy 3-2. Jesuit’s two RBIs came from Charlie Wilson ’26 on a sac fly and Carter Noland ’27 on an RBI groundout. Alex Barr and Cole Johnson both went 2-4 on the day and Alex Barr earned himself a double. Levi Secker continued his relief dominance going 2.2 innings with one hit and four strikeouts.
Midlothian
Jesuit ended the Weatherford article with a win 13-7. James Jorgensen went 2-2 with an RBI single and a two RBI double while Roman Derichsweiler went 2-3 with three RBIs, one of which was an RBI single. Carter Noland added to Jesuit’s run total with a two RBI double and Preston Farragut ’27 and Robbie Ruiz ’27 both had RBI singles. Cooper Patton ’27 shined for Jesuit earning the win with 4 strikeouts and only allowing two hits in three innings.

Conclusion
Jesuit Baseball had a loss differential of 5 during the Weatherford Invitational. Each of their losses could have gone either way and they looked dominant in their wins. Jesuit Baseball shouldn’t miss a beat when they go on to the V-Tool Invitational and the Frisco Tournament.
