A Peek Into 2026 Jesuit Baseball: The Preview

-

It is finally baseball time in Texas. Jesuit Baseball looks to start up a brand new 2026 season after going 25-9-1 last season. Here is everything you need to know.

The Returners

Jesuit has a total of 15 returns for Varsity baseball that include: Braxton Barber ’26, Taylor Haddock ’26, James Jorgensen ’26, Carter Noland ’26, Shane Parker ’26, Hudson Yobp ’26, JP Malone ’27, Roman Derichsweiler ’27, Jacob Martinez ’26, Brooks Kowal ’26, Cooper Patton ’27, Alex Barr ’26, Jack Lattanzio ’28, Sebastian Lasa ’26, and Charlie Wilson ’26.

This team, through many returners, has plenty of leadership to help guide the team throughout the season and help . I asked Head Coach Jones about having so many returners and he said:

“we have a lot of defensive and offensive returners coming back from last year. That will be the foundation to our success.”

Newcomers

With every season, comes a new group of players. These players will have the task to adjust to the Varsity level. Jesuit will have 12 newcomers that include four seniors, six juniors, and two sophomores. The younger guys will look to develop as the season goes by so that they can have better tools to continue the winning reputation of Jesuit baseball as they become seniors or juniors. Meanwhile, the seniors will look to put one last footprint on the school as they head to college.

“the speed of varsity sports is different than sub varsity. It’s a process to get up to speed but with the number of reps or at bats that a player gets help with the comfort level.” – Head coach jones

Goals

The goal for Jesuit Baseball is to have continued success. Jesuit wants to build upon the culture they have in place to help have sustained success for years to come by introducing the newcomers to the culture and by having the returners emphasize it. I asked Coach Jones about this culture and how to maintain it, he emphasized tradition by saying:

“our continued success is based on tradition. Each new year believes in what has already been out in place by those before them. That is our standard.”

Though they had an abrupt end to the season last year, the baseball team looks to move past it and become better after every game and practice, as they have a new goal and new team to pursue that goal.

“we try not to carry over from the previous year. New group, new team and new dynamics.” -Head coach jones

Commits

Jesuit has eight commits for baseball: Alex Barr (Howard College), Braxton Barber (TCU), Carter Noland (Rhodes College), Charlie Wilson (High Point University), James Jorgensen (Texas), Jacob Martinez (Trinity University), Taylor Haddock (University of Tampa), and Brooks Kowal (Colorado Mesa University). These eight players will be fun to track throughout the season as they prove why they got to sign with these colleges and even get to prove themselves to MLB scouts.

Conclusion

This baseball season for Jesuit will be very fun as we get to see the team develop and face some tough opponents like Grapevine, Guyer, Mansfield Legacy, and more! This Jesuit team is loaded with talent and leadership willing to take on any challenge presented to them.
