After a two hour long pregame delay due to lighting, Jesuit Dallas kicked off their home opener vs. Jesuit New Orleans. Unfortunately, another bad storm system came in, ending the game right before the third quarter, in which the score was 31-6 New Orleans.
Game Synopsis
Despite the delayed kickoff at 8:55 p.m., the Jesuit home crowd showed up. Jesuit struck fast with a pick six by Linebacker Joe Norman ’26, and immediately after putting up six points on the board, they tried to go for two, but unfortunately fell short. Jesuit New Orleans punched back with a 22-yard pass from Taylor Norton to Ja’ir Burks to make the score Jesuit 6-7 New Orleans. In the second quarter, Jesuit New Orleans score 24 in the with one field goal, one rushing touchdown, and two pick sixes to make the score 31-6 at half. However, right before the third quarter, another storm came in (it was also around 11p.m. by then) and the game was forced to be cut short, making the final 31-6.

Game Statistics
On the offensive side of the ball, QB Beck Berry ’26 went 11-19 (58% completion rate) with 100 yards, 0 touchdowns, and one interception. Beck led the team in rushing yards with 12. Receiving wise, WR Cade Kirby ’26 led the team with 63 yards on 7 receptions with WR Lucas Mayer ’26 in second with 20 yards on one reception. As a team, Jesuit had 115 yards of offense compared to New Orleans’ 216.

On the opposite side of the ball, the Jesuit defense forced a turnover which was the 15 yard pick-six by Joe Norman. Linebacker Cole Wombacher ’26, once again, led the team in tackles with 5, 3 assisted and 2 unassisted; Cabe Weissmueller ’26 trailed right behind with 3. Jesuit had four tackles for a loss, 2 from Cole Wombacher, .5 from Joe Norman, and .5 from Cole Johnson ’27.

Although they faced a tough loss on Friday night, coming up this next week, the Rangers will be traveling to Highlander Stadium to face Tollway Tussle rival Highland Park. Make sure to buy your tickets in time and show up this Friday, September 12 by 7 p.m.!
